  • Right, no one wants lgbt kids being abused by parents. That obviously includes you.

You’re worried about rare edge cases where parents lose custody because of over-zealous policy when the situation is not simple. You don’t want conflicted parents who mean well being overly punished for dragging their feet.

At the very least you’re worried about losing elections because of moderate voters fearing that scenario, right?

You’re being pragmatic. You’re coming from a place of measure, and study, and reason.

The person you’re responding to is more worried about the lgbt kids who are being abused, who are at risk of suicide, who run away and become homeless and resort to sex work and stealing to get by. They’re worried about bad faith parents who would rather see their own children suffer than live in a way they disapprove of.

The person you’re responding to is being empathetic. They’re coming from a place of hurt, and fear, and sadness.

They see the world from the trans child’s point of view.

You see it from a moderate voter’s.

How do we bridge that gap?

How do we get them to admit we can’t control everything and a line has infinite points between the ends, and how do we get you to feel the same urgency and despair as those trapped inside it who are suffering?

  • In December 2024 the NCAA counted just under 510,000 collegiate level athletes. That same year less than 10 of them were transgender.

One study found that of the trans women who competed in sports about 41% of them did improve their competition level. That implies however that more than half of them either stayed at similar levels or got worse.

Additionally, the sample size used to determine this statistic was 52 transgender women over a period of 8 years.

This problem is so niche that it’s difficult to even study, and even when it is studied, the results are inconclusive.

They have us all worked up over nothing in the interim all trans people see is millions of people debating our rights and hyper-fixating on all the ways we might be different, when most of us don’t even compete in the first place.

Trans people are famously under-represented in sports as a percentage of our overall population… mostly because we are terrified of the bad optics and the circus it brings.

  • In 1860 the Confederacy seceded from the United States and unequivocally committed sedition and high treason.

In 1865 after the U.S. Civil War, the U.S. government largely paroled, pardoned, and politically restricted Confederate officers rather than executing them or holding mass treason trials.

    I’m of two minds.

My heart says we tried going easy on these people once, and now their ancestors are doing it again, so maybe we will come down harder this time…

My mind says our economy and government are far more corrupt than they were back then, and our citizenry are far more comfortable and entertained.

We should make an example of these fucking traitors… but will we?

That depends on what the people with all the money decide.
