5·5 hours agoPicard looked so old the first time I watched TNG. The second time he was much younger than I remembered. Seems to appear younger to me every rewatch

4·5 hours agoI mean death can be fairly predictable even without assisted dying.
He had the resources to have fully in-home hospice care and to have his family stay with him. The medical staff probably saw the monitors and gathered the family.
Of course this doesn’t prove it wasn’t assisted death, just an alternative possibility
How do I tell my parents this
Had the same issue the other day ate a can of beans about it

8·1 day agoWe were doing worthwhile exploration well before Musk was born. It has and can be done in a way that doesn’t need to be tied to him.
Also wouldn’t mining a moon or asteroid belt be preferable to mining the Earth? Like we can keep our water and environment cleaner and still get the resources we need

21·2 days agoNuttery?
Every dollar spent at NASA has returned so much more. They develop things for space travel that have uses far beyond space. We wouldn’t even have satellites and GPS if we didn’t venture into space.
Space has a lot for us to explore and a ton of resources we can use. Why strip mine the Earth when we could just take it from the asteroid belt?
You really need to disconnect space exploration from the likes of Musk or Bezos. We’ve been advancing humanity through space exploration before those two assholes were born
At least you are practicing a skill

323·2 days agoThat is remains a cool potential technology, but why spend billions of dollars trying to develop a worse technology when solar already exists and for much cheaper?
This was the exact same argument made against solar. We should research and improve energy technologies. I doubt Thorium is the solution, but we’ve discovered a lot of our technology by researching something else and then discovering an interesting function or byproduct unrelated to the original goals.
Plus space exploration will need to be nuclear.

So you’re like just a Nazi?
The West and Soviet Union would both agree that Hitler was in no way socialist. If you find yourself that opposed to both sides of the allies that leaves very few political alignments that aren’t fascism.
Sure you say Hitler was a fascist too, but I can see no other motivations to try and disagree with the post’s statement of the facts.
Also even outside of the capitalist framework of needing to be law abiding or productive citizen a drug addiction is still harmful. It harms your socialization, your body, and your psyche. Like it’s still not good for a person
Careful this is only one leap away from conservative talking points. They are convinced China is sending tons of fentanyl.
I once heard a guy convinced that the whole weather balloon thing was actually loaded with fentanyl and dusting the US with a fine fenty coating. Because that’s how the Chinese were going to kill us or something

Hopefully you can find better options domestically if the time comes. More and more places are legalizing it.
