They haven’t even put that in their regular models in like a decade and his is supposed to be a cheap one :/

Competition bicycles can cost that much and those require you to use your legs and contain much less material

Turns out the wrong kinds of jobs are easier to automate. But once we get those done away with, it’s a lot of more labour in physical jobs and we can drive those costs down. Great, eh?
Tbf we’ll need to automate everything we can because we aren’t producing enough kids to keep this upside down pyramid going for much longer unfortunately. By we, I mean most of the developed world, and the developing world will get there in a few decades too.

Well that 20b short isn’t really debt, it’s missed expectations, though one could argue the expectations themselves were fraudulent and ClosedAI will argue they just predicted something wrong

You just named several platforms with about 7 users each. Would have to be using xitter and twitch, maybe instagram. And obviously tiktok.
See anything in common between those platforms?

Alphabet didn’t “take” Google and YouTube. There was no takeover or purchase. Alphabet was created as an umbrella over Google’s sprawling business empire.

You’re only mentioning the hard bits like renting a VPS and installing software, but you shouldn’t gloss over the easy bits like spending tens od billions on getting a user base big enough to make it worthwhile running a video hosting platform.
YouTube’s network effect is what makes being a career YouTuber possible and Google spent billions and the better part of two decades making sure no other platform can offer this.

If it’s 0.02 cents a kWh, a full charge should be a cent or 2 not a dollar

Basically all EVs have regen braking. Which is why EVs are actually a bit more efficient in town than highway: stop and go barely affects them and wind resistance is 4x less than highway at twice the speed. ICE vehicles as you know work the opposite way in terms of efficiency

Article is purposefully ignoring cheaper models to make a point because they’re selling an alternative solution

In my defence just because I could afford it 6 years ago doesn’t mean I could afford it now.

Hey buddy, instances can already track you anyway. The voyager link is better for voyager users sharing things to eachother because it opens in the recipient’s preferred instance in their voyager app instead of being taken to the web UI of some random instance you don’t even have an account on. You don’t have to use it if you don’t want it.

The rust community prefers freedom as in free to do whatever you want, copyleft has a different definition of freedom.

He lives in the US though so should we be using European or American terms? In American terms he absolutely is a liberal, based on all the stances mentioned, whereas in European terms, liberal more or less means capitalist

Compute means CPU/GPU time and has meant it for ages

Charismatic (nazi)

They’ve been doing useful engineering things since the start, it’s just that it pales in comparison to all the bad things

I’m loving it because it’s pushing used ICE prices down -> I can upgrade soon and all the new EV sales means that thanks to EVs already extreme depreciation, I can get a nice 2026 EV for 80% off in 8 years.

I’m surprised the gasoline share is as high as it is, but I guess that depends on market. Here in Europe, diesel is still king as far as I know, gasoline should actually be losing to electric before diesel does since gasoline is better than diesel mostly for short trips and EVs are the absolute best for short trips.
Yes, but that’s got nothing to do with GPS.
