  • Similar here in Sweden…

We had an election in September, it is one of the closest elections we have ever had.

The largest party is the Social Democrats, followed by the Moderate party (conservatives).

In total we have eight parties in the Riksdag, they will form alliances and build blocks of parties which will then vote to form a government (Regering), these blocks are what actually decide who will win the election.

In the election the result was a three seat majority for the left block, but not all parties in that block wants to work together as they have in the past since the different parties have lost/gained seats so the internal power dynamic has changed.

The center party weirdly has a more right leaning financial policy than the Moderate party, though they are more left leaning in other questions. They are shilly shallying between working with the Left party or the Sweden Democrates, a nationalistic/rascist party, and have soo far been more willing to work with the Sweden Democrates.

As it stands now, there may be a new election called, however it is also possible that a minority government will be formed, I have severe doubts that a majority government will be able to be formed.
