I think Marvin would appreciate the sentiment.

There’s a joke that if you wanna piss off a Texan tell them we should cut Alaska in half and make TX the 3rd biggest state. Western Australia is still bigger though.

The spinoff with John Goodman was good though.
Guns are absurd in almost all movies anyway. Zero reaction to firing in enclosed spaces, powering through a gunshot wound by using muscles that basically no longer exist because a bullet ripped through them, etc. And it’s not even just action movies, it happens all the time.
How do you feel about other words or phrases with multiple definitions, like “theory”?

Bush 1 didn’t end up fucking things up too much IIRC, but that also may have been in part because he was dealing with an opposition congress. He was responsible for Clarence Thomas though, but he wouldn’t have gotten in without dem votes.

Shoulda started on the southern Maine border. You can touch 10 states in about 8 hours.

The “grammar Nazis” you encounter online are VERY unlikely to be English teachers
Still too many of them on the fediverse for my tastes, though the number has definitely dwindled since I first got on a few years back. I wish we had enough people interested in grammar (read: descriptivists) to make an active grammar comm here but it’s way too niche. I used to enjoy the discussions back on reddit but even over there it was still basically only a handful of people providing most of the answers that actually ended up leading to interesting conversations.

I just assume anything political in the memes or shitpost comms is fake. If it’s real it’ll eventually pop up in a different place.

As someone with ADHD, it’s difficult enough as-is to focus on words on a page written in a modern dialect
This kinda comes off as someone with red-green color blindness wondering why more paintings aren’t done with primarily blues and yellows.
I guess if you want modern language you could always watch West Side Story.

I’m sure there were people who didn’t enjoy it (as can be seen in this thread haha), but even though we didn’t have wikipedia to check at the time I think it was generally known to be big. And checking the stats it opened to box office #1 and then made 10x its budget, and the critics mostly liked it.
Anyway, it fortunately endures as a triumph for basically anyone who appreciates lit.
I heard in the film industry back before drones that directors would get the scripts to how they want them and then add in a shot from a helicopter. Then the execs whose job it was to cut unnecessary expenses from the film would obviously nix the shot and the director was left with their original vision intact.

Then there’s the counterpoint that says “If voting did nothing they wouldn’t work so hard to prevent it.”
The Japanese is wrong too; they say buubuu.
The acute diacritic (like used above the ú in the meme) doesn’t exist either.

That was huge when it came out. Pretty much everyone I knew loved it. I think it only started getting shit on recently.

Weren’t they all fucked up anyway from all the assassinations and other crazy shit going down in that family?
School mostly felt like a grind. Even though undergrad was more fun, it still was stressful and it felt like there were a lot of hoops without really connecting to much. But when I went back to school like 10 years after that it was for something I was really interested in and (almost) all my classes felt relevant and like they were giving me the info I needed to succeed at what I wanted to do.
Just one? People have been calling him this since his first term.
