That’s definitely my biggest complaint after switching to KDE earlier this year. Overall, I love it. I’d recommend it for new users because it’s easy to understand. But their design philosophy is all over the place when it comes to settings. There’s a mixture of hamburger icons, cog icons, and Settings menus in the toolbar. Plus the confusion of mixing settings related to the desktop environment right next to the application settings.
It’s not great with core apps, and then the community doesn’t have clear guidelines to go off of when making their own apps.
Same here. Overall, it’s pretty good, I like it, I am impressed with their rate of improvement and progress.
For core apps I would love a rewrite of Dolphin. How does it not have Miller Columns? They’re amazing, super nice to work with. In theory tree view should do the same things, but it’s not as polished or clear. Apparently they felt the code as too complex, but I still feel it’s a travesty they don’t support them. Tree view is not equivalent.
I’d love something as Tablacus Explorer kind of multipanel approach: add one panel is just adding one plugin. You can have one to virtually infinite panels in any position you want. That’s better in my opinion, I love that kind of flexibility.
