The good news is that the world’s biggest idiots will refuse to switch to electric. And they’ll be financially penalized long term

And it will help benefit those who adopt evs

They’ll be subsidised a bit. But I’m practice, not to the extent that electricity costs

At this point, the cheapest cars being sold are basically EVs

The 50% figure is gas-only vehicles. Can anyone explain to me why, outside of culture war bullshit, these even exist anymore? It seems that hybrids are better in nearly every single way, and nearly every single circumstance.

The only thing I can find is lower complexity, since it doesn’t need the electric drive system.

Highest profit margins for manufacturers. Idiots are now paying $75000++ for pickups.

And even then some hybrids use the engine as a generator only and the car is always propelled by the electric motors. It’s always a win imo.

But this assumes that the higher fuel prices are the main driver for the switch and I personally don’t think this is the case.

Why Tesla took off was not because it was electric - we’ve had electric cars before. The real reason was that it’s actually a good car and a viable alternative to an internal combustion one. People weren’t just buying them to save the environment or save on the fuel costs. They were choosing the superior product.

Nowadays this is the case with pretty much all EVs. It’s not a gimmick anymore but you can actually daily drive one and it’s in many ways superior to the internal combustion alternatives. If they were still slow, small, ugly and with a low range I don’t think the cheaper cost of “refueling” would matter.

No it’s not. The quality control is the worse compared to any other car company. Even the cheapest chinese EVs have better fit and finish than the most Teslas.

I don’t say that as a fan of China. Fuck China for so many reasons and thier cars are not great but they are of better quality than Tesla.

I say this as someone who has driven every Tesla model and some models multiple iterations. I have also driven BYD, Xping, Xiomi, Aion, and Zeeker.

What I say is anecdotal but it comes from actual experience. Tesla is shit and musk is diarrhea.
