If they said “I’ve had a rough year, but at least it’s been my day” you’d say “thank Cthulhu for small mercies I guess”.

It’s the wrong way round.
If someone said “I’ve had a bad day, but it’s really been my year” you wouldn’t say “oh poor you”.
