Just another fascist party betting on nationalism and hatred to get them past the finish line … people are dumb tho, usually just momentarily dumb, which is all the dumb these types of parties usually count on

Agreed. The NDP attempting to use the USA boogeyman / nationalism to secure a longer term, for the second time now in two years, is nutty. I mean, Eby got elected on a rallying cry that he needed support to navigate the second Trump term – you can’t expect him to carry that out without asking for a longer term/more money after having failed to deliver anything part way through, can you? Sure, calling an election while their only potential opponents are in disarray, to effectively circumvent the democratic process and force a one-party election is totally out of an authoritarian fascist playbook, but it’s the NDP, so it’s for a good cause, so long as you’re a group that benefits from their programs.

Choosing to take that gamble two years early, when instead they could’ve been putting in progressive legislation (seeing as they had a majority), was a bit greedy, but Canadians’ hate for America at the moment is a great way to get over that finish line. It worked for Doug Ford, might work for Eby too. Stats sites showing a >70% chance of a Conservative majority are clearly wrong – a party with an undefined platform, vague leadership, unclear position on anything due to the disarray noted earlier, couldn’t possibly be ahead of the progressive authoritarian party. I mean the cons these days are practically pro-America, which is the opposite of nationalistic/pro-Canada. Just hold firm, the NDP’s authoritarian, anti-american fear based nationalist campaign will win out in the end, I’m sure.
