OTTAWA - Canada signed a joint statement in support of the International Criminal Court after the United States moved to sanction the organization Friday.
I’m glad for the stance and the public statement - And not to be a negative Nancy - But what actions are all the governments going to take to protect the ICC? Flashy statements are nice, but if they’re not backed up by action then it’s not effective.
A Canadian ICC judge, Kimberly Prost, has been sanction for ~2 years now by the US, and Canada could have applied a specific administrative law to shield her from the sanctions, but hasn’t.
