It’s a tricky line to walk.

On the one hand, you are absolutely right that ability to hobble over a few feet from your chair does not mean the chair is obviously not needed.

On the other, wheelchairs are a very popular prop for grifting folks.

It’s pretty damn near impossible to make an informed judgement on such a matter in an instant, and lots of people do exploit that.

So it’s easy, which path did you like, giving anyone with access to a prop wheelchair however much they are trying to get out of you, or denying aid to anyone that ever managed to get up out of a wheelchair, however briefly?

Wow, you really thought you were cooking with that one.

Here’s a thought: if someone’s in a wheelchair, presume it’s useful to them to get around.

          There’s no step 2.

Let’s assume that people massively want to cheat (unfortunately, they don’t, and a lot of people die because of this); let’s say 9 people on 10 are cheating. Are you okay to discriminate one handy because you don’t want to be scam ?

You just making him/her pay because of your ego. To rephrase it : one many disabled people are you okay to discriminated because you don’t want to be scammed ?

Okay let’s levelup; if someone is cheating, maybe this one has a better idea of the reason he has to do it than you are.
