My car keeps saying “time for a McDonald’s break!” and pulling into the drive-through. I’ve been here for five hours, please send help!
I’m just a silly old car with bad opinions

We’re sorry, we detected insincerity when you said “yum, that was refreshing!” For your safety, all vehicle control functions have been disabled. Please try again in 60 seconds

If an LLM was something you could train on your GitHub repo or an internal knowledge base, and ask it natural language questions about that, AND it didn’t need an 800 acre datacenter to do it, I wouldn’t have so many hang-ups about it. Or maybe even train a model in a programming language and have a model that’s tailor made for writing C, or LISP, or Brainfuck or something.
But that’s not what they are. They only function if you hoover up everything the light touches and feed it to the machine, to the point where rare, irreplaceable literature is being shredded apart for training data. And god help you if you try to take your ball and go play somewhere else as the AI boosters profess you must do, they will follow you there and scrape you anyway

But have you considered that it’s like REALLY good at programming? /s

Essentially, they’re fresh chunks of cheese that haven’t been aged. You can eat em fresh (if they squeak and are room temperature, that’s the best) or fried.

The Canadians also use em as a primary ingredient in Poutine

He put pepper on the macaroni, he truly went all-out

Piggybacking off of you since I’m also American.
Wisconsin: Beer, Brandy Old-Fashioned, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Cheese (esp. cheese curds), Fish fry (literally just breaded and fried fish)

Must’ve been such a deer in the headlights moment for him. He didn’t even do what Republicans do best and lie

what’s the p(doom) for me putting my phone in a blender for being reminded about this

Surely, these small business owners won’t throw a fit when consumers choose Amazon over their shop. After all, it’s cheaper and more convenient, right?

Otherwise I’d want for sick fucks like you not understanding that a crime is a violation of someone else’s rights…
You mean like the right to not have your likeness fed into an algorithm and assembled into pornographic content without your consent? Or does having your image laundered by an LLM somehow magically make that ok?
What the fuck is wrong with you?

Yeah, if by “rouge” you mean purposely taking guide rails off a model, giving it access to hacking tools, instructing it to hack, auto-approving everything the LLM does, and letting it run with no human oversight for long periods of time
There is plenty of opportunity for OpenAI, Anthropic, et. al to take a step back and think about what they’re doing before dropping the brick on the accelerator. IDK how they’re not on the hook for any of this.

Software Developers need to learn that there is a world outside of their projects. I do not care if it makes your life easier, this technology is having worldwide impacts we are not prepared for. It’s leaf blower mentality. They don’t care that the neighborhood stinks like 2 stroke exhaust, they don’t care that it’s loud as hell, they don’t care where the leaves go, their yard is clean and that’s all that matters.

Sounds like short term pain to ensure long term sovereignty
AI is the car of modern times. It’s convenient, ruinous for the environment, and a danger to anyone in proximity of one. Hell, we even wasted tons of land on highways kinda like what we’re doing with datacenters. But boy, does it get you from point A to point B quick.

You will drive your 15 liter Ford f150000 baby killer MAX-CAB™ big weiner edition and you will like it, mister!

I would disagree but I gotta check with Mr. Kraft first to make sure that’s okay
I think it’s still murky as far as AI generated code goes. (IIRC You can’t, but not sure enough to say so authoritatively)
But code historically has been very copyright-able. Oracle’s business model was mostly buying companies and then suing people for infringing on their newly-acquired IP.
