This is of course speculation and I’m not a psychologist, but that is what I think happened to Musk. He played this image of a good tech “captain of industry”, then when he got rejected because of his greed and lies he switched to a different persona. And there is no real persona. You can even see similar things with Trump, very far back he was a democrat / liberal, but these malignant narcissists don’t have a real personal.

Well true it’s not gonna happen “very” soon. You’ll basically need source code for games that generalize this stuff, game engine code bases that can encompass various game styles. And presumably a lot of “data worker” work which translate existing games into design doc so it can be used for training.

But most AAA games share very similar gameplay elements just with different art and music and characters and story, one or two new features. Much of the code base is like “player / camera controller” and then a lot of items and weapons and levels and encounters.

So you don’t need to manage an entire colossal code base. But if you imagine just a selection of very strict genres, like first person shooter or realtime strategy game, this provides a rather restricted code base where most is art generation and that is definitely possible. Even MMORPGs like WoW.

You might still need or want e.g. a concept artist that designs characters or supervises art styles. But it’s going to be possible for hobbyists to do the work of multi million dollar studios. With a little side of slop of course lol. No doubt “handmade” games still are potentially better but due to budget constraints have not often been and in this future scenario just won’t be commercially viable. It’s going to be patreon funded game designer crews. And bye bye fucking corporate games industry.

In many European countries there are regulations that your house architecture has to match the overall appearance of the locality. Maybe France doesn’t have that or lags behind or it is badly enforced?

So you can be creative but have to match the colors and materials and roof style of the neighborhood. That can be annoying too but I can see how such bland architecture everywhere would be much worse. I always wanted to build a container home castle but it would never be approved.

It’s funny. Because pretty soon individual “Game Designers” will for the first time be able to create highly complex games using generative AI in very little time. Any game. Even games with a scole like GTA 6 could be generated. And as long as the game describes and edits enough, they will also be an individual creation. Triple AAA video games with a side of slop will become incredibly cheap to make. Much will be total garbage, but we’ll see some really cool new ideas that would never have been made before.

You see a game but don’t like some aspect of it? Download someone else’s game design document for it and tweak it a bit and generate your own version of that game.

HOW? StarSHIELD is a separate satellite network under US military control and with additional capabilities. Musk can’t order the US military around. That’s a ridiculous claim without explaining how he would do this, and without addressing the sheer madness of how this would be allowed.

The whole reporting around this relies on confusing and conflating Starlink with Starshield. This is honestly disinformation because it leaves readers more disinformed about how starlink / starshield is used. Which allows the preposterous claim to go unchallenged and people eating it up.

Also, no globally operating civilian satellite network should ever be used for war.

Oh right. I went to check, the map here shows more reasons for Russia to continue pushing the front line just a little bit lol. But this article casts doubt that the deposits are even mineable economically.

And then you’d need processing. China strategically invested massively into that sector, while neoliberal Europe and US simply can’t even conceive to doing such a thing.

I mean anything for a ceasefire later, whatever conditions, just to break it later. It’s a bit questionable what he actually means. He actually says “Yes. If… right now we have to freeze…". Which could really mean ceasefire and continue later. Anything for a ceasefire now. The Russians definitely won’t accept anything except a comprehensive peace agreement which seems impossible with the EU now.

Sorry I think I misunderstood the comment I replied to a little. But basically even in the EU anyone should prefer salmon that is fed chickenmeal or poultrymeal instead of fishmeal, because the contamination accumulates. And the baltic where a lot of the fishmeal came from (or at least used to come from) is especially toxic. But that is also getting better.

I think the best kind to do fish farms would be to develop systems where you grow your own protein rich algae in the ocean using sunlight and some fertilizer in big floating basins, and then feed the algae to (filter) fish. Then you can fully control it and are not dependent on waste. If we could scale up and automate that kind of aquaculture farming it would solve a lot of problems for protein food supply and overfishing. Because you could do it anywhere, and the oceans are basically lifeless deserts otherwise.
