PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Peter Molyneux believes 'it's almost impossible to code now without using AI'English
34·2 days agoYeah, bullshit. What, did someone Thanos-snap all code editors and game libs that existed pre-“AI” out of existenve? It’s a choice, and he’s just trying to rationalize his.

Privacy@programming.dev•DHS Said They Searched Man Who Wiped GrapheneOS Phone for Child Abuse Material. They Lied
27·9 days agoGrapheneOS really should set up a way for you to create a custom ‘nothing to see here’ profile, where you install some apps (your choice), create some plausible docs and downloads, etc. all innocuous but genuine. Then ‘capture’ that and tuck it away to blast over right after the duress-pin blanks everything ‘real’. That way it isn’t even obvious a duress-wipe has even occurred. It would need to be fast, and look just like a successful unlock to a real pre-existing profile.

19·10 days agoOK, so the article suggests he basically ‘re-discovered’ those edge, line and corner-detecting neurons in the optical cortex? (But as an analogue encoded in LLMs). If I remember anything from my college biology classes…
Big Deal™. It does diddly squat in addressing the ‘confidently incorrect’ hallucination / Bullshit-generator problem fundamental to LLMs.

36·11 days agoNevrr forget, Accenture used to be Arthur Anderson, of Enron infamy. They deserve any financial ruin they get, IMO.

Canada@lemmy.ca•He followed a debunked conspiracy theory to claim a tax refund. So why did the CRA agree to a $40M payout?
15·13 days agoIn his case, Pearce did not report any income, but erroneously stated he had paid millions in taxes since 2016 and wanted it refunded.
Uhm… fraudulently stated, not ‘erroneously’. WTF! Jeebus, is there any way the rest of us Canadians can sue these selfish grifters or the govt to get our money back? Any fraud like this will come out of our future income as additional taxes.

3·14 days agoI haven’t read everything yet, but it sounds great. Apologies if this would be an FAQ, but… would cycling be cheating? I hike and cycle, so if there was a setting for both it would be amazing. I used to play Ingress but didn’t like how it was harvesting players for data.

0·1 month agonoai.duckduckgo.com, for at least one alternative.
CoMaps or Openstreetmaps instead of Google Maps.
ProtonMail/ProtonDrive instead of gmail, gdrive.
There are lots of alternatives, we just need to use them and tell others to use them as well.

Just. Stop. Using. LLMs. They
