Both are good options, but ATM the tuta protocol isn’t standardized which means you are relying on tuta maintaining their favorable stance on privacy, unlike other providers which still have support for IMAP and pop. ATM if you go with tuta you are committing to both their infrastructure & client whereas most other providers you don’t have to use their client.
Ivpn doesn’t support port forwarding so it probably won’t work well for filesharing. Private internet access has support for it, although I’m not thrilled with its jurisdiction atm, but that being said they have been subpoenaed before & were unable to produce logs so they probably aren’t bsing their no log policy.
I’m not sure if you are aware, but there is a reason why it is explicitly xc instead of just keepass. Xc is the Foss one & keepass is a corporate hell hole
I assume the point of the extension is to have support for autofill, if that is the case, you should be aware that it is generally a bad idea to give your browser access to that info directly since they are the definition of internet connected apps. What I do instead of autofill with keepassxc is open the vault and press the copy to clipboard buttons which works essentially the same way as autofill just with a couple more clicks.

7·3 days agoeasily cancel your citizenship of another country.
I can think of two countries off the top of my head where this is untrue. For USA you need to pay to renounce your citizenship, & China won’t allow you to at all. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for the requirement that they are a citizen for government positions, but it seems a little heavy handed for positions that don’t have direct influence over foreign policy.

News@lemmy.world•Alaska's governor orders a probe into Peltola's Senate campaign over spoiler candidate controversyEnglish
3·7 days agoI would say approval voting is a complete solve, ranked choice is still susceptible to the spoiler effect since it may be in your interest to rank a candidate higher based upon them being the exact opposite of the candidate you definetly don’t want to win. If it is runoff ranked choice then it is mathematically solved, but you are relying on everyone following the correct voting strategy.

5·8 days agoThe zero escape series has so many good ones. Virtue’s last reward in particular has the best ost. As an aside if you enjoy absolute bullshit storylines ala nano machines from metal gear, I highly recommend playing the zero escape games.

2·10 days agoGimp’s workflow is objectively worse, shortcuts are not the most difficult part to get over. There is a reason I personally use krita as my replacement since while it probably won’t ever have parity with Photoshop, it does do all the things I want it to without having to redo my entire workflow.

3·18 days agoI’m not sure everywhere, but I can say that any place that has a population of about 5000+ in my area is fairly well mapped, enough to mean that I haven’t used google maps in about 2 years. The less populous areas aren’t great, but I have at the very least never had issues with highways so it usually gets you close enough that you can get by.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Are you able to tell which language is which by looking?English
10·22 days agoAs someone who cannot read either language, I normally go by the rule of thumb that if it has a lot of curves it is probably Japanese, otherwise I assume it is Chinese. If we can throw Korean into the mix then I just need to see one circle and that’s how I determine if it is or not. It’s not a perfect system, but I would surmise that I can guess the language well above half of the time.
Also aren’t the characters for Chinese shared across all spoken versions, if so, why did you specify Mandarin instead of just saying Chinese?

Linux@lemmy.ml•Rolling Release Distros Superior To LTS Distros In The Patch-Heavy GenAI Era?English
1·24 days agoI think the best of both worlds, assuming you don’t need rebootless updating, is the distros that act as immutable for any given update set, but allow updates ala rolling release and just cache the previous image. This way you have the newest packages while having an easy recovery method if the update breaks things

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Fluxer Federation Protocol Announced!English
0·1 month agoAs far as I am concerned, fluxer fills the niche of the bridge between open protocols and discord for normies. Xmpp doesn’t have clients for all major OS’s and matrix is finicky if you care about the voice and video side of things.

I hope the new congress addressees this since from the American legal perspective, the war in Iran has not been deemed a war, and since congress is the body that gets to decide to declare war, if the system works as intended they could decline to legitimize the war and thus end hostilities.
