“Our faith is respectful…it reflects the ideas of justice and fairness, things that are just fundamental to the Bible,” Hamilton told me in early October. “Two thousand verses in the Bible talk about poverty and taking care of the poor. That’s not what you hear from Christian nationalists.”
The American right-wing has a long term issue with the liberal nature of Jesus Christ’s teachings. This preacher can try to appeal to the right-wing’s better natures until time itself ends.
I learned a new term today, “European-style Christianity”.
The study, published in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, looked at cognitive factors while stripping out variables like demographics and education. It found that in the US, those who subscribe to the doctrine of Christian nationalism — characterized as a belief in strict social order, blurring of religion with a sense of civic belonging, and promotion of European-style Christianity — tend to correspond to a low level of cognitive ability.
Commuting is not deductible. Can’t afford gas to get to work? Too bad.
The letters are the latest escalation in a legal battle between Democratic-dominated California and Trump’s Department of Justice ahead of the midterms. The federal government sued on Oct. 15, roughly three weeks before elections, asking a judge to bar the state from counting mail-in ballots from people the federal government has identified as likely noncitizens. A panel of 9th Circuit appeals court judges will hear arguments on Sunday about whether California can be compelled to comply with the federal government’s demands.
Wait until the last minute? Why not arrange and plan this all out well ahead of time?
The worst people I’ve known in my life were religious (Christian). I truly believe they like the idea they’re forgiven no matter how bad their actions, all they have to do is accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior! Now they’re free to run riot and their afterlife is just fine and dandy. Sorry, that ain’t moral.
Laws are for little people.
Hungry children, all part of republicans Big Beautiful vision for the US.
Power exerting itself unfairly (short time before), you don’t have time to adjust.
In watching the video, mayor says he’s not gonna hit anybody. Video sure showed us something else. Is the mayor intentionally lying, or is he genuinely that out of touch with his own actions?
Fascinating that Trump is leaning into god in this situation, given that Christianity has such a notable history of child abuse.
It seems the Trump admin is targeting the legislative branch.
Nixon era. Federal enforcement got started with the Controlled Substances Act of 1970, which deemed cannabis a Schedule 1 drug. The Nixon admin also buried the Shafer Commission report, which said cannabis was not dangerous. The reason was Nixon wanted to target blacks and the anti-war left.
“All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.”
It’s not a bug, it’s a feature?
What “criminal conduct”?
I wish I could undo the lessons I learned in Christian private schools. You do not have my permission to use my taxes to fund these unrepentant child abusers and their institutions. Unfortunately, what I want doesn’t seem to matter to our overlords.
And in a bit of Orwellian doublespeak, calls it Make America Great Again.
Seems like paper ballots would be more secure.
Vaccines are one of the greatest achievements of modern medicine. Republicans think, “Make them a profit center.”
