Consumers are willing to pay a surprisingly high amount for hardware. Just not for old ass consoles after hefty price hikes. The gaming landscape is being buried by data centers.

We are morally obligated to stop data centers and not use LLMs whenever possible. My field of work is continuing to pivot towards AI and I know I‘m not going to sit on my ass and prompt shit for a living. I‘d rather do anything else with my time.
You guys keep repeating the same arguments but I‘m not sure you actually know what they mean. AI won‘t go away? You don‘t know the future and even if so I doubt you would have any idea in what shape or form AI will exist in the future. It‘s an empty phrase.
In the cloud era of the internet we‘ll all be shouting at clouds.

You‘re looking way too deep into a comment that incapsulates multiple facets of the issue just fine to diverge from your problematic „but it‘s not as bad as this worst misuse of water you‘ve ever heard of“ comparison. Your claim it‘s hard to verify is laughable as is your first semester social studies level of analyzing an argument. I guess one way of winning a debate is to just bore everyone to death so bravo.

Unfortunately I don‘t really care about speeders let alone cruisers. If it was all about Podracing and the maps had more variety it would be a different story.

Using the worst widely known misuse of water as a straw man argument is a little pathetic, no? The water usage from AI data centers is still pretty high, especially when you consider many are doing it without a permit, which is the actual issue and reason a lake could just vanish. Besides, global warming isn‘t getting easier with all those gas turbines either, contributing to more droughts.

Yeah hardware got too expensive to play anything anyway. Just go play in a field. Woops! There‘s a data center now. Lets take a swim in the lake then. Woops! The data center drained it.

The catch is that a data center drained half a lake processing it, loses money in the process but the „vibe modder“ gets to make revenue on Youtube with ads for the clips I guess. I bet many of these creativity vultures have a patreon too. If you‘re anything like me you chuckle at a Mario 64 in Elden Ring clip and keep moving on, though. Why would I want to play that when both games separately are much more fun?

Eh. Mashup slop may look impressive on a technical level but ultimately it‘s just made for clips and clicks. There is nothing particularly interesting about these mods so far because the only people prompting them right now are AI bros. They lack creativity and a clear vision that gos beyond „What if Skyrim but you are Steve?“. It‘s painfully unimaginative so far.

It‘s pointless. The pace at which games are decompiled with AI in the modding community tells me that each and every software will be figured out and broken into within a few years or even months. The digital world will be turned upside down. All data could be leaked, entire hedge funds and banks could get wiped with a mouse click and governments could be toppled over night when pension funds of millions suddenly disappear. The AI ouroboros is a vortex that could swallow the entire internet including everything we put in it. Moving fast and breaking things may just break our way of life forever.

People experience increased violence from policies and lack of oversight. It makes sense they‘re readying to fight back.

Their C-suites are in panic and know fuck all about games but they probably have seen one or two movies and have heard of Netflix. They probably proposed this because it‘s the only thing that makes sense to them in a foreign world that confuses them. It can only fail and will likely churn out AI slop nobody wants to watch.

With all those holocaust memorials in Germany, the country is doing the exact opposite of keeping a low profile. You‘re probably thinking of Belgium, USA, Canada, Russia, Japan or the Ottoman Empire. Like, there are so many countries that committed genocides and trying to sweep it under the rug but that‘s simply not true for Germany. Germany has a guilt culture that some say is also problematic for different reasons.

The thing that really bothers me is the title claiming OP did something when AI did it based on stolen work.
Meanwhile I disagree with the prediction narrative. Because predictions should be padded with evidence and reason. „Its the future.“ or „It‘s not going anywhere.“ is being too vague and often just added at the end to hammer down an opinion. I think it doesn‘t support AI bros‘ argument at all. It actually just exposes them.
