Cool idea to use erasure coding for this.

Where did you get these clips

Not personally, the larger ones rate well, but may be out of reach for most home users due to hardware requirements. Generally open weights models have been about about 3 to 6 months behind the big closed frontier models

They’re also some of the better open weight models

That was a niche reference that I wasn’t expecting

I’m very successful without a degree. I am atypical and would still recommend going to college

Yeah that sucks for sure. Unfortunately doing all that does solve some real problems outside of videogames

That actually all looks pretty reasonable for what they’re trying to do. There’s very little novel there, they’re mostly leveraging existing security features

They’re also claiming that 90% of the proposal is Medicare for All. So everything else in the list would be $3550 per household per year if their claim of $35500 per year is to be believed.
I don’t know that they’re making the argument they think they’re making

Wait, by their own math we can get most of the list with the 5% wealth tax? Fucking sold. It would cover everything but Medicare for all and student debt. Give me that 32 hour work week.
I’m not concerned about it personally, but you are putting a lot of trust in them as a 3rd party service provider. It’s up to your specific risk profile if that’s acceptable risk or not.
The alternative would probably be self hosting a vpn yourself with dyndns to handle ip address resolution. I’m biased (I have a professional networking background) but I don’t think it’s that much harder to setup either. But then I’m also a hypocrite and don’t self host anything anymore.
There’s also a valid argument to be made that doing it yourself is riskier because novices make mistakes. I don’t think this is too big of a concern personally - it’s not like you’re rolling your own cryptography.
Just as much as Tailscale is self hosting. Tailscale is probably more concerning from a security point of view.
There are way too many ways for things to potentially escape from a container and start interacting with the parent os. These can vary from simple misconfiguration (they’re not secure for this out of the box, and there are aspects of this that are easy to get wrong) to unknown kernel vulnerabilities that can’t reasonably be defended against.
As someone else said, use virtual machines if you’re really concerned.
