I know people in state gov who couldn’t even use CoPilot (blocked by firewall) until an explicit contract was put in place with Microsoft about data handling. (On top of their existing Microsoft contracts.) All other LLM’s, ML, or “AI” are blocked unless approved, as well.
Seems like the federal government does not have its shit together.
A colleague signs his emails with his name followed by an ellipse, with no sign off pleasantry.
It always seems like he’s sulking.

Me, with an empty takeout soup bowl: “I’m a job creator!”
I was going to reference this scene from Everything Everywhere All At Once, but got distracted by the fact that the studio is selling hotdog finger gloves.
… huh. That’s weird.

The little nub on the top is a LIDAR module.
I wonder if an upside down cup will fit over it.

She could do squats, but if the yard is any indication, she hasn’t been within arms length of the ground for a while.
Is she a tarted up Megamind?

I wouldn’t say I ‘run’ it, but I mess around with it
I have a base level Mac Mini I got before the price increase a few years ago, also from when models were smaller and my ambitions were less. I’ve contemplated upgrading it, but I have other things to spend my money on.
M4 processor, 16 gb ram, 256 gb storage, and a 4tb external HDD drive (an old NAS drive).
It’s fine. It’s mostly a docker machine, but I do throw AI tasks at it a few times a week. Mostly stuff that I just let it chew on for 5-10 minutes and come back to.
I run openwebui, and have several models I bounce between. I mostly run Gemma4 (Google) and Granite4.2:8B (IBM).
Editing to add: the self hosted version of all these models, via llama, just in case that was unclear.

It’s weird - a parasocial relationship that has supplanted real ones, and the person just does product placements at you. But it works for some people.
I’d rather talk to my cat. The only thing he tries to get me to buy is cat food. And a million small toys.

I’m not sure if you’re aware but it’s documented that she registered to vote affiliated with the Republican Party in June 2024.
It’s not merely that people like her that are conservative.

I didn’t know who the woman with the misspelled first name was, so I looked her up. I was sure the joke was that she is a porn star. Nah - some kind of social media influencer that moves a lot of products through banal videos.
In 2026, Earle claimed that the only book she may have read was Dr Suess, and other than that she has “never read a book”, despite having gained a degree in marketing.

Seems right for Trump.

Since my earlier interpretation of this question was inaccurate - I’d like to try this again:
There are a number of satellite operators that currently do business around the world that offer worldwide coverage at similar data speeds. Many of these already offer services to governments.
Given that StarLink is preventing them from conducting missions, any and every company that they can use is an alternative at the moment. StarLink is no longer on the board for them.

Pointing things out in the form of a question is an interesting way to communicate.
Definitely my mistake for not understanding that to be an assertion.
I guess I just thought that no one actually thinks StarLink is the only operating satellite company out there. Your response seemed vague and out of place.
When you responded with an irrelevant infographic about planned satellite network buildout, it really seemed like you were engaging in disingenuous attempts to argue about nothing, so I cut it short.
But since we’re here — let me try again. I’m going to comment again on your original question. I sincerely hope you respond.

Good insight. I actually blew the entire graphic off as soon as I saw it. The person posed a question to bait people into responding. My response didn’t advocate for anything in particular, but they still responded as if it had.
It’s also just a pointless stance to argue - number of satellites is irrelevant when the ‘biggest’ option is slowing your traffic down so you cannot operate.
Starlink is off the board. Regardless of the pros and cons of other providers, Starlink is non-viable.

I don’t really want to get drawn into this, because no one was arguing about this until someone decided to advocate for SpaceX.
But fuck it -
EutelSat is partnered with Airbus, one of the largest defense contractors on the fucking planet.
As far as number of satellites go, 600 is plenty. They can provide service worldwide with 600 satellites.
The thing that is tripping you and the other commenter up relates to volume/saturation. They’re a smaller company. They have less volume. They don’t need more coverage.
Maybe that means it’s not as robust, but given the choice between a company that randomly pulls the plug on your ops without advanced notice and (maybe?) being slightly more susceptible to jamming, the choice is clear. I’ll take an imperfect solution over no solution any day.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but:
Don’t give nazi’s money.
Don’t entrust your (or your nations) safety to people and organizations that operate in bad faith and do not treat that safety responsibly.
Do what works to see your needs met, not what you wish worked.

Oh, you already knew! You just wanted to argue.
I’ll save you the effort, bud: You’re the smartest in the room, and we bow before you! We quiver in awe before your superior genitals.
…. Anyway.

I considered trying to make a joke about James wearing toxic eyeliner to take down another pope, but the setup felt a little tortured and the reach too far.
