  • What do you mean by “if a school doesn’t ban AI that does not mean they’re forced to use it”? That’s not an argument anyone is making. People are saying the turning off search capabilities just because the school opted out of AI is petty. That’s exactly what they’re doing and here’s a quote from the article saying that:

“Search and A.I. are deeply integrated,” said Chris Phillips, vice president for education at Google. If a school has banned A.I., he added, students “will not have access to search, and they’ll see a message from their school that indicates it’s not available.”

I hope schools keep the AI off and switch to a different search engine.

  • I have been a huge advocate for Obamacare, and I’ve been off and on it since it’s inception depending on my work offerings. I don’t get any subsidies and don’t mind paying more than other people due to my income. In fact, I’d rather pay even more so older people aren’t charged more just for continuing to exist. What I cannot stand is how the government (Rs generally, but I know plenty of Ds don’t care), is so blasé about making it worse and worse every year. I just want universal healthcare and it really should not be this hard. Everyone should be able to live. I have no idea why that’s such a foreign concept.

  • Is she the one that her said her husband is voting republican because of this? Honestly she should be ostracized by anyone on the Dem side. Anyone willingly married to an R voter at this point cannot be trusted. Unbelievable that she ran and can’t seem to convince her husband to vote for her party if he’s not voting for her in the position. Clearly she cannot be trusted to push for her constituents needs if she can’t push her husband to vote blue. Maybe if her constituents were the state of Israel things would be different, but if she’s with someone that won’t vote for the candidate of her own party then clearly she doesn’t actually care what happens to them.

  • What do you believe is his reason for creating people? He placed the tree of knowledge to give us choice, but in doing so opened the pathway to suffering. Why create beings with free will in the first place and give them the opportunity to hurt themselves or others.

If I bred and trained some puppies to not step on red floor tiles and then put them in a room where stepping on a red floor tile caused them to be set on fire or something, people would (in my opinion rightfully) suggest I was being unnecessarily cruel. I could make plenty of arguments as to why I’m in the right “I’m the reason they’re here so I get to decide the conditions of their existence” or “I trained them first so I’m just seeing if they’ll follow directions”, but I don’t think anyone would think I’m in the right. It feels somewhat like that’s what god did. He made us fallible and gave us plenty of ways and reasons to fail. What is your interpretation of why?

  • Not currently religious, but my understanding at the time was not that he didn’t think things could be evil, though obviously we might see things like death as “evil” and he might not. It’s that in order for us to “deserve” good things, we need to prove we are worthy. The only way to prove that is to allow us to do the wrong thing so that we can of our own free will choose the right thing instead. The question would then be why would you create beings with free will knowing some of them will inevitably suffer forever and the answer is generally “I’m god, who the heck are you to question me?” or some stupid explanation about how free will existing is itself a good that god did and therefore even if we choose evil every time we make a choice we are still engaging in a universal “good”. Religions do obviously differ though, so everyone likely learned things a little differently.

  • Honestly, probably a non zero amount, but I can assure you that the dem voters would actually care if it came out.

The Weiner scandal was actually a scandal and he served time. I’m not willing to go to bat for dem politicians (though I’d pick a random D over a random R politician any day), but I’ll definitely back dem voters on the whole for actually having some degree of standards or morals, which does generally lead to accountability.

I think that’s the main difference, because even if Rs and I disagreed, if they actually had morals we would not have found ourselves here. A bunch of Rs referred to Trump as a Hitler-like fascist and then bent the knee because the R voters didn’t care. It’s not that our politicians are somehow morally superior, though on the whole they definitely are, it’s that the actual base cares about the things they say they care about.

  • I think the distinction is what we consider “the work of a man”. I don’t consider man’s work to be just physical labor. A lot of things can do that. I think the true work of humanity is to use our ingenuity and critical thinking to do more. I’m not saying physical labor is not important, but there are several jobs that require physical labor and take thought and troubleshooting. I don’t need a human being to screw in the same screw on an assembly line a hundred times a day, but a human being may be needed to determine why that screw ends up being a failure point in the final product.

There is of course lots to be said about the value of a hard days work and the toil and effort of physical labor, but I think we are all capable of so much more. It need not just be that.
