Very good chocolate though.

My first computer was Tandy. 8088 chip, I think. Orange monochrome monitor. No hard drive, 2x 5.25 floppers.
That sounds just like my first PC! I bought it secondhand in 1983 or 84. It was fancy because most monitors were green, and the two floppies meant you didn’t have to remove the program disk to save a file. I remember laboriously typing out the code for Eliza, the first chatbot. I had a daisy wheel printer too - the paper was fan-fold and had sprocket holes down the sides.

I agree re the vacuum, and generally avoid cordless tools due to the weight, but omg I was at a friend’s house the other day and she showed me some battery-powered secateurs she’d borrowed from her sister. Next thing I’m out there pruning away - they cut through tough stems like butter! Now on my wish list.

I listen to the radio a lot. The BBC has some excellent radio on offer. My favourite is Radio 6 Music, a DAB-only station that just plays music all day. Various DJs, a bit of chat, but mostly music. No ads. Like others have said, it doesn’t demand attention, you can listen or not.

From the Oyokogawa water park, in October last year.

It’s happened only twice a year since 1968, which is when the Abu Simbel temples were relocated from their original position to avoid being flooded by the Aswan dam.

Phasers on stun!

They forgot Jeremy Bentham’s body.

Batten down the hatches too.

It’s ok, but it monkeys around with the plot to an annoying degree.

Anything by Emma St John Mandel. I started with The Singers Gun, but probably enjoyed Station Eleven most. It was made into a series by HBO - I’m in “the book was better” camp. The Glass Hotel is also good, and Sea of Tranquility. A quirk is that various characters pop up or are referenced in different novels.
China Mieville is another writer I like a lot. I read most of his steampunk novels - Perdido Street Station and The Scar stand out. But my favourite was Embassytown, which is basically about language.

You are welcome in my house with that kedgeree! One of my fave comfort dishes.

If you really want to horrify yourself, try shining a UV torch around your bathroom.

Is that the one in the airport? It’s fantastic.

Greetings cards predate Hallmark by quite a lot.

Personally I applaud hunting for food. We are animals too, part of the ecosystem. Hunting just for trophies is disgusting though.
