Midge. What i would’ve named myself if i wasn’t a coward
Yeahh it’s unfortunate… I think i could get away without them noticing if I just kept traffic low enough, but I can’t afford even a cheap VPS to do all the reverse proxy stuff
No they definitely mean it, about the self hosting. I live somewhere with two giant monopolies on internet service, Comcast and Verizon. AFAIK, you can’t even request a static IP from them unless you pay wayyyy more money?
I’ve always wanted to… For me the problems are 1) I’m behind a CGNAT, 2) my ISP explicitly disallows hosting in their terms, and 3) I can’t afford a VPS.

Ok well that’s actually awesome!! But is that what these people are using in big important projects like the Linux kernel, or are they using Claude? I’m guessing it’s the latter, right?

It doesn’t inherently have to come from big tech, but currently there’s nowhere else to get it, soooo…
Maybe we ban it now and then revisit all this after small open source local models are actually useful for anything?

Personally it just feels nice to be on a medium to small instance. I joined up here before piefed really blew up, so it was a lot smaller then lol

I actually considered switching to your new instance! Just because the vibes are really nice. However, I’m kind of super well established here already

I really like Blorp. Couldn’t really say why, it’s just nice
