  • Its everywhere. My bank has made it virtually impossible for me to wire rent money to my office at work because they suddenly want a piece of information that my office building doesnt have. I have had to use my spouse’s bank to wire the money. On top of that, its going crazy with scam emails, phonecalls and texts from baf actors who try and convince us that we owe taxes and VAT and need to upgrade our access codes to our online personal info and yadda yadda. Its all over the place. Leaked security info. Attempts to abuse people’s personal info. Constant attacks.

Welcome to the most boring world war. The cyber world war.

I started stocking up on canned food and water shortly after Russia attacked Ukraine in 22. Just to feel a bit less stressed about everything. I live in Denmark, and our government and military has been vocal for years about stocking up on supplies and how much and what things to buy. Lost most of that stuff when we moved into a house, so we are starting over and stocking up a little bit at the time. My spouse didn’t take it seriously the first couple of years, but has come around recently so we are working on it. Still need power banks and more batteries and a new supply of bottled water. At this point in time, I no longer feel distress about it all because it has been ongoing for enough years that it’s just kind of part of your everyday life now. That some crazy cyber attack could happen at any moment and screw your entire country over for hours or days. My goal is to have enough supplies to survive in the dark for two weeks. One of the perks of moving into a house: suddenly you have the space to stock up on supplies.

    Is what it is.

Heard this lovely quote that I hold near and dear to my little heart: the man who sleeps with a machette under his pillow is a fool every night, but one.

  • I’d use the knife to cut branches and turn them into spears. Carve them really nice and pointy. I’d poop on the ground and smear the tips of my spears in my own feces. I’d find a way to sneak up on it while it is eating or sleeping or doing whatever. Throw my spears as hard as possible and as many of them as needed to make sure at least some of them hit the target. Then wait.

My biggest problem is that I am as atheltic as a potato, so I’d probably not be able to throw it far enough and hard enough to penetrate the skin. Depending, of course, on where thr heck I am positioned during the attack. If I am somehow able to be perched in a tree or on a tall rock before attacking, then maybe I am at an advantage. I could be supliment the spears with blow darts, also covered in poop, if I have the time to develop and use that tool properly. Ideally, I would like a bow an arrow, but I dont believe I’d have the skill and time to make a more advanced tool like a bow. One month isn’t a very long time, after all.

Since T-rexes more than likely had feathers instead of the scaly skin we associate them with, there is a good chance, the spear/blow dart would be able to penetrate the skin - if my aim, strength and speed wasn’t total shit.

I would also have to do all of this within the first week and attack it repeatedly to make sure it got infected beyond what its immune system could repair by itself. I have no idea how long it would take for a T-rex to die of sepsis, but the earlier it is hit, the better.

When you are smaller than your prey, you have to think of how smaller creature becomes a threat to bigger creatures. Poison is almost always the answer. The only poison we have ready avaiable, is our feces.

More than likely, I would totally fail in a real scenario and stay in my indestructable hut the entire time.

  • Thank you and likewise!

Haven’t had the best time these past three years and especially not this year where everything seemed to happen all at once. My 2026 is like a plot for a terribly written soap opera. Lost my beloved company, lost both my parents and got pre-stage breast cancer which means I lost my breast too. Lol.

I don’t even know if i have the right to feel anything about it because companies go under everyday in this economy, I’m not special in that regard and I still have clients and work.

Can’t grieve my parents because they are both still alive and I just made the decision to cut them out, but it’s learning all these new things about them that makes everything so much worse than it already was. How do you grieve a parent who’s still alive and who never loved you because they don’t have the capacity to love?

And with the breast, I can’t really react to that either because it was pre-stage, not cancer yet and they cut off my breast before it could get worse, so no kemo for me. How do you take ownership over an illness you never had, but it still cost you a body part?

    I don’t fucking know, lol.

I don’t know anything. I just know that from June to August some things happened and I’m not the same person anymore, neither physically nor mentally.

It’ll be fine, though! It’s just one of those bumps on the road where there isnt really much of a point to anything other than letting go and stop trying to fix things and people who don’t want to be fixed. 🤷‍♀️

    Fix yourself instead.

Hugs for you and I deeply hope your life is better written than mine xD

  • More like, it favors giving the money all the people who make a living off of what the artist produces.

Its like a factory. The artists are the workers at the bottom who actually produce and make the art work. Then there are the managers who promote the art and their bosses who sit at the top, running the factory. It is always those who benefit off of other people’s hard work who get to enjoy the fruits of other people’s labor.

Artists are why publishing houses exist and the reason why editors have a job in the first place, but it is the editors who drive nice cars and live in nice houses while the artists who draw and write the very books the publishers sell, get to enjoy getting paid so little that they can’t make a living off of it.

If you look in places like the animation industry, you can point to any of the big animators who helped make Disney big in the 90s and you will see that none of them can get work. None. New animators have no chance. Artists who have been in the business for 20 or 30 years, who are responsible for the movies that defined a generation are jobless and if they get a job, it is the kind of entry level gig that you’d normally only give to a recent graduate.

Illustration had been fucked for decades. They are getting paid the same as in the 80s, but not adjusted for inflation. More often than npt they get offered jobs for exposure and when they land gigs that pays, it will be two months work for one week’s pay. Asking for more money is not an option. There are no unions. All they can do is work faster to maybe make the low pay worth it. Meanwhile their editors live in gleaming mansions.

You might end up being one of the lucky few scammers in fine art who become rich people’s favourite, but that is a completely different world from the commercial art industry. People work themselves into early graves. There’s a reason why Berserk’s crestor died in his 50s.

Back problems, wrist problems, eye problems, weight problems. And these are passionate souls, which is why it is so easy to take advantage of them and their skills. Most people in the animation industry burn out before they’re 40. You don’t see many middle aged artists in the industry today. Some end up teaching. Most leave the industry all together when those who benefit from their hard work has sucked every bone dry.

The higher ups get fat bonuses. They live the great life. Not a creative bone in their body, but they make a living on the piles and piles of passionate souls who will be eaten up and spit out with nothing to show for it.

That is the life of the artist.

The very, very few ones who rise to the top are often those who have a rich family member or spouse to finance their artistic endeavors. Illusteators, painters, authors, animators, you name it. More often than not, the ones who do well and are successful, have no real financial problems in their lives because their loved ones got them covered.

It’s easy to make an amazing piece of art when you don’t have to worry about money.

  • Just leave. I left in February last year. I made a post on facebook announcing that I’d be leaving the following week and that if people wanted to stay in contact with me, they could find me on my email, on Signal or call or text me if they had my number. I proceeded to gradually delete things manually. I am under no illusion that my pictures and posts aren’t saved somewhere in some database despite me deleting them, but I did it as a ritual and also in order to “pass time” while I waited for most of my contacts to have seen my message.

I found a tutorial on how to delete your facebook profile (this is one of the newer walkthroughs, and yes, it is fucking ridiculous), because that button is hidden several layers deep into your page so that only the most persistent mf’ers can find it while most people may go look and end up thinking “urgh, too much of a bother” and then just leave it for a later that never comes.

I was genuinely surprised that there were anyone who followed me to Signal, but people did and now, a year and a half later, I have grown a kinda long list of friends and family on my Signal and have heard that some of them have started using Signal as an alternative to other messaging and video call services with their loved ones. Most of these people were very iffy about joining Signal in the beginning. They lowkey feared it because it was new to them and they had heard bad stories from the news, but after learning how to use it and realize that there is nothing scary about it, they all seem pretty chill with it.

I am tired of telling my friends to stop using Instagram.

Don’t do that. Tell them where they can find you if they want to stay in touch. :D If you want a bird to come to you of its own free will, you have to leave the window open instead of chasing it through and closing it. Respect its autonomy and right to choose, and it will be way more open to come to you.

Any Recommended Stratergy To make them ditch Meta ?

Again, you cannot make anyone ditch Meta. It is a misguided way to think of it. I do understand that a lot of discomfort comes with being the first to do something within your social sphere. That is also what made me hesitant to leave facebook for several years. That and I didn’t know of any alternative to messenger which was the only mode of contact I had with my best friend, who lives on a different continent than mine. The minute I learned about Signal and she agreed to join it, I was gone.

My friend herself hasn’t left Meta. None of my friends and family have left Meta and I will never tell them to do so. At most, I will tell them why I left. However, I have noticed how some are starting to use Signal more than messenger. One of my family members prefers Signal to Messenger because they like the video call option better on Signal than on Messenger.

I have lost touch with a ton of people by leaving, btw. A ton. I don’t care much. I don’t see it as a loss. If I feel the urge to stay in contact with someone, I will reach out. Sometimes they reach out to me out of the blue. I like that.

I also like that when I get updates from friends and family, it isn’t from some feed on some platform, but from their own mouths.

I don’t have FOMO. I don’t feel left out. It was scary to leave initially, because you have been used to having access to everything, but life with less access is actually nice. I like that it has become a tiny bit harder to stay up to date on what’s going on around me. It has been rewarding.

It’s been a year and a half for me and I am currently reading more books, watching more movies and I feel more present in my own life. I barely remember what it is that I actually “lost” by leaving. Not much, other than a level of stress that I didn’t really know was there until I shut down my profiles. Highly recommend! As long as you get into the mindset of accepting that you cannot control what other people do nor should you.

  • It becomes worse when you learn the back story of why he sent a tesla into space.

Musk did to tesla what he did to literally every other business venture he’s had:

Sees talented people, buys their company, fires or kicks out everybody, takes over and if he can get away with it: takes credit for other people’s inventions.

In the case of tesla, he took over the company and kicked out the founder/inventor of these electric car models, snubbed and barred him from having any access to his own creation and as a final petty move, he sent the very car, the founder was owed in his contract, into space. And there was nothing the founder could do about it, becauae elon gets away with everything.

The only thing Elon has “invented” is the cyber truck. He was also behind the genius idea of electric car locks that has cost people their lives because they couldnt escape their cars. Every idea he has, is purely madw because his toddler brain thinks it is either funny or cool and he is rich enough to get away with it.

But yeah, the tesla in space was a literal middle finger to the man who created those cars because elon is a petty, jealous bitch who can’t handle that he isn’t smart enough to invent something this cool. Toddler logic.

Him taking over twitter was akin to the tesla in space. He was petty enough to spend the money to humiliate and fire all the people he didn’t like and turn their platform into even more shit (personally I have always hated twitter with a passion, but not as much as elon hated it).

He cannot create anything. He can only leech off of others and punish them for hqving the talents and intelligence he doesn’t have. He is a deeply insecure, pathetic little boy who is stuck in a perpetual hunt for glory so that his lame daddy might actually notice him and be proud of him for once. That’s literally also the only reason he cares about Mars. His daddy named him after the massiah in a literal nazi sci-fi book where a guy named Elom colonizes Mars.

I dove into this prick’s past shortly after he did the hitler salute and everything about Elon and his life sounds like ridiculous fiction.

  • As a Dane, I will tell you two things, good sir/madam:

1 How dare you compare us to the Dutch in anyway? It is not remotely the same! Dutch sounds like choking on chicken bones, big deal! Danish sounds like throat cancer mixed with sea sickness. IT IS NOT COMPARABLE! D:<

2 You are a Swede and if you deny it, you are lying, bish.

  • It is a necessary evil to protect yourself from enemies. Granted, my country’s military wouldn’t stand much of a chance if russia or america decided to move from persistent provokation to active invasion. We can hope that our allies would help us defend our lands in the same way we have supplied Ukraine with aid, but who knows.

It isn’t fun being a small country who has pissed off two large nations because we support Ukraine’s soverignty and because we aren’t selling Greenland.

So yeah, maybe the military wouldn’t be able to protect us for long against eastern and western enemies, but at the very least, it would do its best until we are being fucked from both sides.

I have a very low opinion on russian and american military, of course.

  • I heard the opposite, that they supposedly began calling it soccer as a posh thing but every brit I know of, calls it football. Personally, I don’t care how it happened, I just find it weird how americans seem to cling to the word soccer and bring up goofy ancient history between them and britain as a defence. I have taken to calling their game, American rugby and will continue to do so for as long as they call football, soccer.

  • In my opinion, Americans and Canadians have a very similar attitude when abroad. They are loud and opinionated which can be both good and bad and they sometimes feel a bit like elephants in a china shop. They have no idea that how they behave, which is perfectly polite and normal in their own countries, is considered extremely clumsy and borderline rude in ours.

Americans are showmen by nature. They can’t help it (Canadians have a bit of a similar streak in that regard). It feels very fake in my culture even though I understand that you kinda have to be a showman in America in order to fit in. I consider myself pretty out going and loud by Danish standards, but next to an American or a Canadian, I become very mousy. They are just that extreme when put in the nordic context.

Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. I knew a couple of Americans who were really chill and didn’t try to “sell” me anything. One of them was an extremely introverted, but deep thinking writer, who might as well have been scandinavian himself because he never wanted to take up space and he was very soft spoken. Another was technically a total showman, until you learned that he had raging ADHD and had to stand up and move around while he spoke. He was very down to earth and real when you looked past his yoga poses during his talks. He had hated the hectic world in the city and built a cabin in the woods for him and his family. The third, ironically, became obsessed with our food culture, which shocked the hell out of me because our food culture is notoriously repulsive to foreigners. This woman lived entirely of rye bread, pickled fish, salty licorice, potatoes and every other food group that we pickle. All the pickled food. She looked like a feral animal at lunch time and was like: Gotta get my fill while I’m here because once I’m back in the States, I’ll never eat this good again.

    We respected her immensely.

Most americans (and canadians) I have met irl have been good people, even with the showmanship. I have met a handful of truly ignorant and obnoxious assholes, but I have mostly forgotten about them while I remember the nice ones more.

Online americans are obnoxious af, though.
