Twenty years from now, shitlibs are gonna rehabilitate Trump just like they’re rehabilitating Bush 🙄

It doesn’t make the argument more compelling to an outside viewer who doesn’t already agree with what’s being said.
IMO it is important not to address the AmeriKKKan project in the language the entity prefers. This is the only platform where I get to authentically speak my actual opinions about the world. I steadfastly use this limited platform to assert that the AmeriKKKan project is so fractally unworthy of respect that I will not even grant it the dignity of correct spelling.
If you like think that my approach is too emphatic (what I suspect you mean by “Hexbear-like”), go do it your way. We need a diversity of tactics to show people that AmeriKKKa is an enemy of all life.
People on .world get really weird at me for spelling out AmeriKKKan every time, and people find “
” slightly less cringe 🤷. Also it renders as an emoji-sized flag (i.e. same size as 🇵🇸) in my client.

Maybe it’s the flag burning emoji.
Maybe you’re confronting a contradiction in your beliefs? Because if you agree with what I said, then the flag burning emoji is just an expression of that desire to abolish the settler-colonial project.
That or I guess I did use the emoji a few times 😅

Oh God yes, fascists and capitalists

I mean…
is fundamentally against caring for others and the planet.
, in all its various iterations, has always been a white supremacist, genocidal, proto-fascist project to protect the local capitalists and their vile settler-colonial interests from the rest of the world.
I would argue that the most successful propaganda of our time is convincing almost all
settlers, nominally of every political persuasion (but obviously still infested with liberal monoculture brainworms), and other liberal rubes outside
,
that the pedophile
government does not need to be obliterated
.

I wish you got banned harder

Nah I don’t have any respect for business owners either lol, petty capitalists are still capitalists and therefore need to be smashed like capitalists. I’m
and I worked in food service for seven years. Tipping culture is ingrained enough here, and legally enshrined, that even petty capitalists tip as a social expectation.

If it was my employer then would I even be allowed to give a tip?
I mean it depends on your employer. But anecdotally, yes, business and corporate purchasers usually did tip us, although nowhere near the usual 10-20% of the price expected of smaller purchases. Actually, they would often tip in advance as part of a credit card payment, so it would be the person with decision-making authority (i.e. “the boss”) setting the tip. (Cash tips were quietly preferred but I was always thankful for any tips.)
Which then leaves an interesting idea. Why 20% tip instead of 20% more food?
Reputation. Makes your company look bad if you don’t tip at all.
If they are paying I would probably spend what ever I can to max out the limit.
I mean if you’re trying to “max out” some limit, then simply max out (limit)/(100% + (tip)%) with (tip) > 0 and give the driver (limit), and your employer should understand what you’re doing. I would fix (tip) with my employer before I set up the order. Or, tip out of your own pocket.

Let’s finish what I said:
don’t point your frustration at the proletarians who rely on your tips to survive.
I’m not saying to never ever point your frustration at proletarians. Sometimes we are assholes. I am absolutely frustrated at proletarians who deliberately make both of two choices: (1) get food from restaurants, which is an unnecessary luxury one can choose to live without, and (2) choose not to subsidize the delivery driver’s wage, which is unfortunately the social contract which has been imposed upon us. If you did only one of these things, I wouldn’t care.
When I worked in food service, I worked there because it was literally all I could get. Most of us, for practical purposes, do not choose food service, because the other “choices” are misery and poverty (more than food service already entails). Hence why I said “don’t point your frustration at the proletarians who rely on your tips to survive,” because we lack the freedom to choose a better line of work. If you can afford to go out to eat, you can afford to tip; you have the freedom to not be a part of the situation. Even though we are both proletarians, within our class, there exist various economic disparities and other social hierarchies which we must be careful not to reinforce.
The fact that is composes most of your wages is not the fault of the Patreons coming to the establishment who are also required to pay ridiculously high prices on low quality food, and then also tip for the right to do so.
No, patrons literally do not have to go to restaurants.
Tip is meant as extra on a job done well behind expectations.
Not trying to be contentious but I have to say it: this is capitalist brainworms. This is how capitalists want us to think. This is their narrative, but it’s not what is enshrined in law. What’s enshrined in law is that you can legally refuse to pay a driver for a portion of their services.
One last thing, what’s so special about the driver, waiter and bartender that puts them in the tip-getting status? What about the cooks, busboys, cleaning, host/hostess etcetc
Yeah I do not agree with the existence of tipping culture. It should be abolished. Unfortunately, tipping culture is legally enshrined in
, so ignoring it before it is abolished is tantamount to withholding a driver’s pay. Where I worked, drivers were paid less than inside staff to account for the fact that we got tips. This is an unacceptable practice, but it is enshrined in law. Everyone on this godforsaken planet deserves equal access to the fruits of labor.

the models themselves are trained on something
Yeah I’m not claiming that the models were trained ethically. Like they basically scraped the entire Internet, definitely including some data it’s unethical to include. Thus, “stealing” isn’t really the right framework. It’s violations of privacy or other rights.
What you get when you download an “AI” (really a LLM, since these things are not intelligent like humans, and we wouldn’t want them to be because otherwise they would have rights) model is basically a big set of numbers. IMO the question is: what are the consequences of using these numbers?
In my view, the best, but ultimately unconvincing argument against using these numbers is that they were generated by an unethical process, so using these specific numbers constitutes an endorsement of the process that created them. As an anti-capitalist, I fundamentally oppose almost every process that created almost every product I have ever used, simply by virtue of the fact that everything I have ever owned has been produced by private firms stealing proletarian labor. If I applied this principle consistently, I would simply starve to death and be completely marginalized and forgotten by capitalist society. Thus, I am willing, to some extent, to live in contradiction of the heuristic that we shouldn’t use products derived from unethical processes. In particular, I believe that local LLMs, despite their ethically sketchy training, have sufficient technical utility for users to offset the harm already incurred. So I think there is absolutely an argument to slow down training of LLM models, especially since I suspect that the system you build a model into is just as important as the LLM “black box” itself (e.g. Claude uses a Linux container and SymPy in the background)…but for users, I don’t believe the argument to stop inference, i.e. using the numbers, is as strong.
I myself will still not like generative AI, simply because of all the shit and more, but also how damaging it has been for the creative space
Honestly, yeah I really am not interested in using LLMs for creative purposes. I only ever use LLMs for technical work, and I really only want to listen to music and consume art arranged by sentient beings.
I would also like to add that “AI” capitalists, like all capitalists, have issues with consent. Their loud insistence that “AI” is inevitable is a propaganda campaign to manufacture your consent for the vile things they want to do to you. Consequently, as someone who uses LLMs in my work, I emphatically reject the inevitability of LLMs, and if someone says they don’t want to use LLMs, I completely respect that choice and won’t bother them about it ever again. My view is that for some people in technical professions, in particular high-information fields, LLMs are and will be incredibly helpful tools…but a lot of people are simply never going to use LLMs and should not be pressured to do so. And as a corollary, we shouldn’t structure our entire goddamn society around these tools.

I mean okay, but don’t point your frustration at the proletarians who rely on your tips to survive. Like yeah tipping culture is bullshit, but it’s not imposed by your servers and delivery drivers; it’s imposed by capitalists and their demonic governments. We’d rather just get a living wage right out the gate, but that’s literally not an option.
Then you get more crying about how much the hospitality sector is struggling
Not our fault. Not your fault either. It’s the fault of the capitalists who are ruining our world and pitting us against each other.

I mean I guess not but like I think it is absolutely possible that at some point in your life, you might spend $300, or perhaps someone else’s $300 (e.g. your employer) to get catering.

Also, you know, I won’t spend 300 quid on 1 meal.
Parties tho

Fuck that, I would rather not participate at all.

Like this is literally what I wanted when I worked in pizza delivery for seven years, literally just do pickup if you can’t afford to tip. And tbh I don’t order delivery anymore for that exact reason.

I mean maybe if you tipped us we wouldn’t have to be so vindictive 🤷

Dont use the big tech’s stealing machine.
Would you oppose this being done with locally run LLMs whose models are open weight (preferably open source) driven by clean energy? (You don’t need a data center to do inference.) Because I don’t oppose “stealing” information when its proletarians doing the “stealing”. E.g., I’ve “stolen” literally thousands of textbooks and papers with LibGen and Anna’s Archive and SciHub, and I will never ever ever feel guilty about that.
Because if your opposition is to increased corporate control, then I get your frustration. I’m absolutely against the corpos controlling… literally fucking anything, but unfortunately they do control the compute these days, so in the short term these are the conditions we have to plan around. So this seems like using the capitalists’ tools against them. It’s obviously not as good as taking the capitalists’ tools away from them, but it’s something.
If you want to use this AI generated alternative of adobe because adobe is horrible, then I understand you…
Actually I don’t plan on using this particular tool. I typically just use GIMP or Krita since I’m not a professional, and I still want to see those ecosystems succeed. If anything, I hope it will convince GIMP to give users choices for GIMP to work like Adobe. I’m speaking up because in some circumstances, I absolutely do not oppose using or creating vibe-coded software from a technical perspective.

Stealing Adobe’s work is good, actually. Let’s steal Adobe’s everything!

Remember Biden coming in and turning around a really shitty situation?
No lol what the fuck are you on about
Yes. Give it twenty more years, less if there’s no political rebuke of Trump.
