uhh… wouldn’t that trigger all sorts of https certificate failures?

Hey just wanted to comment about the EMT rescue part:
US sold vehicles can have laminated side windows that don’t shatter open, and it’s been a huge educational issue for years because people are using traditional window breakers on them in emergency situations and the tool won’t open them. It’s only gotten worse since that article, as auto manufacturers are installing more laminated side windows to prevent ejection during a rollover event.
Might want to check if your vehicle has them. Best list I could find was from 2019.

I carried an LG phone with 4" screen for YEARS. Way beyond what was considered safe for Android. It just fit so well in the pocket. I kept expanding the storage with larger SD cards. Also replaced the battery, since it wasn’t glued together.

We used to call extra large phones phablets.

…but all phones got so large that there was no reason to use a different word. Look how much bigger a base Pixel 11 is compared to that 2013 HTC:

An extra large phone is just any phone.

All the ones I could see on ea’s website made it to GOG, which I don’t think allows launchers tied to accounts, so it’s possible they don’t.

arstechnica linked to this location to identify if you have a model/package that is infected. It’s a looooong list.

As somebody who fell for a clearance Vizio TV, the option to “just not connect your TV to the internet” is not available for my Vizio.
The TV will randomly power itself on asking for an internet connection. It will interrupt other connected devices to start internet setup. It will refuse any HDMI-CEC controls until you retrieve the Vizio remote to cancel the setup process.
AVOID VIZIO. full stop.

ESRB is not a government entity. It’s a US game industry rating board.
As long as whoever you are trading to accepts that it is Japanese only, there should be no problems at all. My local game shops have a section for imports that people trade-in.
Yeah I was taught only to call someone “Miss” if she is 100% confirmed single otherwise it’s an insult. So I never use it.
I didn’t know “Ma’am” was an insult for old people.

I’d love to do some testing and see the limits of the Xbox licensing system. Does the latest OS allow you to put a disc into an offline Xbox? Does the license transfer when that Xbox comes back online and the disc is not inside? or is the physical disc inside the console what causes a license transfer?
Back when Xbox Live went down, I did some testing on what could launch and what couldn’t for both Xbox One and Series X… and I was really surprised at how integrated the OS was to the internet. It really seemed like there is a local and internet check for launching a game. And plenty of license caching.
Overall this digitization of physical media sounds nice, but I’ve pointed out before… this was the original idea behind the Xbox One. Internet check-ins for every disc don’t sound so evil now that we’ve slid so far downhill.

According to DoesItPlay.org, only 13% of PS4 games required a download to play. When you look at PS5, it’s only 17% requiring download.
Microsoft actually implemented the opposite of your described sharing method recently. When you first put in physical media, you are allowed a digital download of that until that disc is put into another Xbox, where the license is immediately transferred.

is notepad.exe still around? I was sure they had replaced it with a new Microsoft Store app with copilot and ads.
My takeaway was not that he was giving them the info they need, but rather that his new persona was so charismatic that he became the one they liked & remembered. A lesson that it isn’t what you know, but who you know.
…maaaaaaybe?
I’m probably not the right person to ask. I deliberately avoided MiSTers up until now, because of how needlessly complex they sounded. So I stuck with the AVS, the SuperNT, the MegaSG, etc etc etc.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that the only reason I would see this as a poor MiSTer is because of the wacky communication and documentation.
I really do hope it shapes up and turns out to be an outstanding product, but as-is… I could see development being abandoned tomorrow without anyone ever knowing.
If the Game UI update is finally out and ready for deployment, I wasn’t aware of that. I knew that they had an alpha demo of it available for testing, but I’m not being paid to test. All the github pages make no mention of a release candidate, nor anything about the SuperDock getting disc reading functionality. It also seems like the composite output can’t use the new console mode and is stuck on the old MiSTer menu, so I don’t believe for a second that 1.1.1 is an actual release candidate even though that’s where they started their versioning.
My review of the SuperStation is: oof
For a drop-in replacement for a Playstation, it’s not nearly good enough. The disc drive add-on shipped without working. There was no UI aside the default MiSTer menu. The PS1 controller ports don’t work by default. No documentation. No communication. Extremely rough out-of-the-box experience. I was not happy.
As a cheap MiSTer… maybe?

I know my pre-COVID office had a floor of nearly 200 engineers, and only 3 women.
Regardless of policy, bias is going to happen at that scale, usually not in favor of the women. Honestly makes me sad how tough it must be.
The heart skip when an rm command runs longer than expected.
I need huge amounts of RAM for video editing. When the bubble pops I’m hoping to upgrade to 128GB.
