Three perfect logicians walk into a bar.
The bartender says “Y’all want something to drink?”
The first logician thinks about it and says “I don’t know.”
The second logician thinks about it and also says “I don’t know.”
The third logician says “Yes.”
Edit: aw, dang, I see deadbeef beat me to this one… by 4 hours.

Why do programmers confuse Halloween and Christmas? Because OCT 31 == DEC 25.

Ok so, sure, other parents seem to have escalated things in a dumb way, but… for the rest of his life, this kid can say “I was so good at soccer they called the police on me… when I was 3.”

You have leaves in your list, too!

AKA 4 in 10 Americans are brain dead.

These images make me wary of dying of dysentery, for some reason…

Abdul: So I’m going to ask you, do you disavow any attempt to read any religious doctrine into the laws of our country?
Tommy: I do not.
Abdul: You don’t disavow that. So, I think it’s you who needs to understand the Constitution, not me.
El-Sayed played him like a fiddle. Rock on.

I was never under the impression that I was in touch.

Oh man, she only lasted half a mooch.

False alarms are certainly not good, but I have to imagine that delaying an alarm by even a few minutes to double check has got to be a tough call.

I used to work at Epic as a software developer. The experience with MyChart isn’t particularly surprising. I generally think that Epic is pretty genuinely well-intentioned, as companies go, but they’re not particularly incentivized to put more than the bare minimum of effort in this process, since the number of patients who want to opt out is very low, and it’s in Epic’s interest for patients to be signed up (not, I think, for nefarious reasons like selling data; Care Everywhere data is covered by HIPAA and misuse would be a serious legal liability for Epic. But having more patients lets them tout their exchange numbers, etc).
Some of this can also probably be said about the hospital itself. They probably slapped together a process needed to meet legal requirements, but don’t put much effort into it beyond that. It wouldn’t surprise me if they simply didn’t have the resources to spare for it.

The letters in Japanese that are usually spelled with an R in roman letters represent a phoneme that English doesn’t have; it’s in between r, l, and d. VAs whose native language does not include this phoneme may find it difficult to make that sound because of lack of practice, and because they consciously or unconsciously approximate it with the nearest phonemes that they’re used to.
A “grenade assourdissante”, clearly. Très différent.

No, this is how it works
You peer inside yourself
You take the things you like
And try to love the things you took
And then you take that love you made
And stick it into some
Someone else’s heart
Pumping someone else’s blood
And walking arm in arm
You hope it don’t get harmed
But even if it does
You’ll just do it all again

A caravan of trans immigrants! Many caravans! They’ll eat your… car keys! BOOGA BOOGA BOOGA!

As a relative beginner, I think it’s funny that you say “they could’ve just said 蕎麦屋 rather than そば屋”, since I can actually read the latter, but not the former. And my guess is that’s why they write in kana; to be easier for people who don’t know all their kanji.

Two spaces after periods.
