  • It’s basically the same thing every product goes through under capitalism - when the ultimate goal is to make as much capital as quickly as possible, eventually everything profitable gets bought up to be squeezed of its profits until it stops making money, and is then abandoned for the next thing. EA is just a product of a system designed to incentivize their exact business strategy, and there are many more like them.

  • We’re saying the same thing. My definition of antisocial is not someone who doesn’t want to socialize - that’s why I included the bit about asocial people, who are those types of people who fit the layman definition of “antisocial.”

As you said, someone antisocial is someone who wants to harm society. Being antisocial isn’t “not being social,” it’s about specifically using social interactions to dismantle society. Antisocial people interact with others all the time - manipulating, lying, stealing - all social interactions, but used against society instead of for society the way the “friendlier” social interactions would be.

They are highly social people, but their goal is to destroy society, which would end up destroying human social interactions.

But even if your house has never burned down, you should still have a plan for if it does. My wife and I both know what to grab in the case that a fire or carbon monoxide alarm goes off and we need to leave quickly. It’s never happened, but you don’t want to be in the moment running around panicking because you didn’t have a plan.

It doesn’t need to be some crazy detailed thing - something simple like “grab the green folder in the file cabinet” or, like this example, “text me “x” and I’ll get you out” will work fine, and will save you when it’s needed.

My family’s motto growing up was “Eat all mistakes.” It mostly applied to not wasting food, even if you messed it up. So when I baked cookies in the oven after my mom made a roast, but forgot to turn the temperature down and burned the shit out of them, I had to eat them all. Stuff like that. It really taught me to pay more attention, and appreciate when food was good, even if it wasn’t my favorite.

Nowadays I use it for a lot of things - if I decide to watch a show that ends up not being great, I’ll eat my mistake and finish the season before dropping it. If I start a hobby that I end up not being as motivated to do as I initially thought I’d be, I eat my mistake and use up the materials I bought before stopping.

It both gives me an opportunity to make sure I really don’t like something before I give up on it, and also trains me to not dive too deep into something before I know whether I’m going to enjoy it.
