Technology@lemmy.world•Datacentres are deeply unpopular – so the geniuses at OpenAI are rebranding them: These resource-guzzling centres drive up utility bills and are hated across the political spectrum.English
9·3 天前MY utility bill shouldn’t change if I don’t use more than I always do.
The owners of data centers should be paying for their own shit, they should have to pay for all the water they use AND all the electricity they use. If any industrial infrastructure needs to be set up they should have to pay for that too.
It might actually not be following title 2 regulations to make people pay more because of a small number of customers using WAY more than everyone else

7·3 天前my android TV device isn’t google certified and I run a VPN with an adblocking DNS on it. I stream HD video with it whenever I have it on, what should I be looking for if I have a bad one?

Technology@lemmy.world•New York Times and other outlets sue web browser Brave over alleged content scraping: unlawfully distributed it to customers the suit names as Anthropic, Perplexity, Mistral, xAI, and Cohere.English
11·4 天前Just because an organization ostensibly respects individual autonomy
Actually, that kind of does make them a good company. And Brave isn’t the only adblocking I use, I have layers

828·4 天前“Dubious” modifications? You mean the stuff they add to block ads and spoof fingerprinting that works better with just one setting change than any other browser I’ve ever used or tested on such things?
Edit: or maybe it’s the completely anonymous sync they have that doesn’t even ask for an email address, or maybe it’s their continued support for manifest v2 for anyone who wants to double up on adblocking with ublock origin. Or the way they continue to bypass youtube’s adblock detection

Edit: Karma for the news outlets that lie. There’s a browser that can get around all their bullshit now and it’s great

Keep up the public pressure, if it worked to make microsoft stop mandating recall, it will work on proton

Cats like doing weird things
Does she think Jim is gay? Not a red flag if she wants to be friends with a gay guy
But it is a red flag if she thinks you’re not her “Jim”

My old cat loved sitting in my lap. My current cat is still too hyper with kitten energy to lay in my lap for more than a few seconds
