  • Heard this one a lot, guess they figured everyone would go the fuck you got mine attitude of the boomers, not realizing that you can’t onboard the youth while maintaining full unmasked racism and marginalizing the value of the same youths perspectives. Another one is “you’ll understand when you’re older” which to the surprise of no one thing he “when you’re older” part never matures in discussions with these types.

  • I feel like my kids having it diagnosed helped me a bit but it started with getting a therapist and talking about my life experiences. I expected to have to take a test but they just put me on the meds pretty quickly. My 3rd grade teacher suspected me but my parents never acted. I guess I am a clear case so testing wasn’t involved in my diagnosis

  • My wife and kids lost relationships over this mentality, her shitty father went around telling everyone at the family reunion that she was crazy and all her physical disabilities were made up. She has Eiler-Dahnlos hypermobility and all kinds of auto immune issues(something affecting her nerves) and my kids inherited some of her inheritable disorders. Most people disregard their disabilities because they are capable on some days or for short times, they don’t see that 2 days later they’re paying for that effort by being bedridden in pain for the next 2 days.

  • Software developers and other professionals in the US at least in my area are increasingly receiving “unlimited PTO” policies so you take whatever time you feel you need(but if it’s too much the company will punish you) and more so this has a two fold effect, unlimited PTO users tend to take less time off, and the company doesn’t pay out a PTO balance when you leave the company. So it’s really cheaper for the company to do this than to have a limited PTO policy.
