Avid PC gamer, Linux convert, SCP fan.

Love Science Fiction, Cyberpunk, post-apocalyptic settings; Fan of the games of the defunct Arkane Studios. Listening to (Power-, Speed-, Thrash-)Metal, Gothic, Deathrock, EBM, Vaporwave, Lo-Fi; Classic and Musicals are fine too. Can’t stand Hip-Hop.

Owned by two cats, recently divorced, blessed with a personality disorder (AVPD) - pensioned (even the state has the opinion I’m a total wreck lol). This causes me to be unable to keep up personal connections and makes me ghost literally everyone, so if it happens to you, sorry in advance.

Chronically online.

Pro GenAI, but Anti-GenAI-Corpos; this technology should be available to everyone, which would only be fair since we all contributed to it. Datasets and Models should be under the jurisdiction of UNESCO, since they are literally the distilled cultural output of humanity.

A kilometer is about a 15 minute walk (meaning you can walk ca 4 km in one hour - actually a bit less, avg walking speed is around 3.6km/h, but that is so very much individual that it has the same usability as your mile in 20 minutes).

0 and 100 °C is where water changes between frozen/liquid/vapor (and that does NOT change, while “reasonable comfort” is very much dependent on humiditiy - if it’s close to 0° outside, expect slippery roads. 0 and 100 Fahrenheit do tell you fuck all about what to expect outside regarding road conditions without extra knowledge.) Default room temperature is around 22°C, smack in the middle of the personal preference normally being around 20-25°. Having the same scale in mind, everything above 30°C is pretty warm, with 42° the current heat record in Austria, set this year. 60° is the temperature where proteins start to denature a.k.a getting burnt, pretty much 2/3 of the way to water vapor.

One liter is the volume that fits in a 10x10x10 cm cube, just as a milliliter is the volume of a 1x1x1 cm cube (because 10x10x10=1000, and a milliliter is a thousand of a liter). we still use tea/tablespoons in many cooking recipes tho (or if you want, you can use 5 and 25 ml or 5 and 25g if it’s water.)

  • The best movies i have seen in my life for me personally were probably:

    • Sharknado (all of them) because of their absurdity. It’s something to laugh at, and they do not aspire to be anything else, which is something we all need from time to time, while it is seldom provided. Honorable mention for anything Monty Python.
    • Nolan’s Batman movies, because they capture the atmosphere Batman Movies deserve perfectly (I am not a fan of his later stuff tho. Dunkirk was fine but somewhat boring for a film that should embody tension, Tenet is a fucking mess regardless of how often you watch it. Things like “The Prestige” are somewhat of a foreshadowing of his ability to create suspension and drama. They should really take away a bunch of tools from him to get better results - he fails when working without restrictions, he seems to get lost in the detail. Probably why I like the Batman movies so much - there he is confined to a preexisting world where he can’t just do whatever his mind produces.) The Joker movie also hit that same mark.
    • Akira. This thing has formed my relationship to messy and gory anime, and i would never have it any other way.
    • Braindead and Event Horizon. The same thing for horror and splatter movies.

    The best series:

    • Battlestar Galactica remake: The soundtrack alone is something to die for, and both the story and the acting are top-notch, surpassing their source material. I’ve been an Olmos fan ever since. Great stuff! (I’ve watched it 3 times from start to end)
    • Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: I was an old-school Shadowrun RPG player back in the 90’s (Hermetic Mage all the way btw), and this anime really hit all of the targets. The crumbling society with normal people trying to life their lives in it, and the people being pushed to the edges and their resulting attempts to break the cycle they are caught in are fully shown here. Can’t wait for the second season.
    • Breaking Bad: not so much for the series itself, although both acting and story are fine (i tried watching it a second time, but it’s just not the same), but for the portrayal of how health issues ranging from cancer, getting hurt on the job (Hank), psychiatric problems like kleptomania (Marie) and PTSD (Hank again) or drug addiction (Jesse) can cause common people to spiral out in the US (while the whole premise is moot in most of the developed world with socialized health care and available mental health professionals (this needs improvement even here)), and how people who want to get out are caught up in this mess without any real options to escape (outside of Walt rigging up an M60 in his car trunk)
    • Death Note: Such an intelligent series. I love it to death (although the last few episodes can’t keep up the pace).

    Honorable Mentions:

    • Psycho Pass: a very solid Sci-Fi detective anime, touching on some very heavy subjects.
    • Monster (2004): Another Anime, medical drama x detective story. Pretty heavy stuff, but a great watch.
    • Konosuba: It’s somewhat of a Sharknado of Anime. If you like anime, you’ll be very much entertained.
    • Star Trek (TNG, Voyager, Deep Space Nine): Each of them focuses on a different scenario, but all of them are both great entertainment and something to keep you thinking, with moral dilemmas to be discussed everywhere. While TNG is more focused on general moral dilemmas, Voyager makes decisions more personal because they mean it might take even longer to go home and there is no Federation to judge them for violating their princples, and DS9 then gets down and dirty with the politics of a Space Station right in the middle of multiple conflicts between different nations and religious belief.
    • Lost: I absolutely love the first seasons. It is a shame that you can pinpoint the exact moment they knew that there will be no more funding. The 4th season does not even exist in my mind, tbh.
    • The Game: A movie you can only watch once. Doesn’t make sense to watch it again. But that first watch is worth it.
    • Monogatari: An absolute masterpiece regarding japanese mythology, wordplay (sadly i do not understand japanese, but even with subtitles and explanations it is a great thing, and one day my japanese will be up to the task!) and storytelling.

Edit: I forgot to mention my all-time favourite Anime:

    Hellsing Ultimate.

I fucking love when Seras Victoria uses Zorin’s fucking head to give the walls of Hellsing Mansion a new coat of paint. I could watch that segment every day, and it should be the fate of all Nazis.

  • Yes, it reduces burden of debt, but it makes taking on new debt a lot more expensive, because interest rates are closely related to inflation.

And if you have to pay back a debt (as you normally have to after a predetermined time), and have to refinance it by taking up new debt, now you might not be able to pay the now higher interest.

So for the one who pays off his credit card debt, inflation is a good thing. For the company that used that credit to invest in something that will only bring revenue at a future point in time, this is a real fucking problem (this is what is happening in Russia currently btw. Bankruptcies are skyrocketing there because of the high inflation and the even higher interest rate - and stalling domestic spending - , and that rate is being artificially kept “low” to boot. There has been an intense power struggle between the russian central bank and the Kremlin this year. Look up Elvira Nabiullina’s “disappearance” this June)

  • If the reward isn’t money, it is control. This technology can automatically flag any public dissent, every unwelcome transaction, and with Flock & Co even where you go and who you might meet (outside of the fuckton of telemetry cars come with nowadays, but it’s harder for 3-letter agencies to get their hands on that data)

In the beginning, it was about money. They realized that this is probably not gonna happen since human labor is cheap. But for control, this stuff is epic. And in this use case, who the fuck cares about a hallucination or two? Being able to analyze the online presence of billions of people based on INTENT and not simply keywords is worth fucking gold for them.

  • I would have NO objections at all regarding dismantling of the Five Eyes - this surveillance shit can get fucked.

I have mild objections regarding dismantling of NATO - as a defensive pact it fulfills an important role, but it might be superceded by something not dependent on the increasingly unstable US and that would be fine.

I have massive objections regarding dismantling of the EU - this is the largest economic and peace project Europe has ever seen, and has brought prosperity all over the continent. I have my gripes with its structure - the EU Parliament needs more tools, and the Commission needs less (the commission is an completely undemocratic blob in the middle of an otherwise pretty democratic structure, as seen with the commissions regular push for spying on citizens), and also we have to change the rules which need 100% of countries to agree in general, because it causes everything to be soooo slow (and easily disrupted by outside forces), but in general the EU is a pretty successful project.

The good thing is - all european states KNOW that the EU is needed nowadays. We can’t realistically go back into a time where a small land mass as we are is splintered into scores of small pieces.

  • Hardware is a 5070 12GB VRAM, an AMD 5950x and 64G of DDR4 running on Nobara (Fedora spinoff).

I use 3 models for most things: Ternary Bonsai 27b and Gemma 4 E4B Uncensored Q8_0 for everyday stuff, and Qwen Agentworld 35B A3B Q8_0 with CPU offloading for tasks that require to keep the model on track for long periods of time.

Everyday performance is best with Bonsai for me - it comfortably fits in my VRAM and is noticeably better with staying on task than similarily sized models. But if i want it to work overnight on a task without issue, the lower speed of the agentic Qwen is outweighed by its capability to do this.

They are allowed tool calls for websearch and reading webpages and have a sandboxed directory for R/W operations, but anything regarding command line and R/W access in other areas has to be manually authorized by me (i’m not willing to play with fire here).

They are currently not reachable from outside, but i am currently building a smaller machine as a home server, which will then be using a 3070Ti and 32G RAM to provide probably the Bonsai Model for me on the go per VPN.

The smaller models are here for quickly creating documents i do not care to do myself, RAG for technical documentation, creating quick python scripts for automating small tasks and teaching me RegEx and Python(mostly by analyzing the LLM output and playing around with it) and also some RP as NPC in a fantasy setting. The agentic model is currently working on cataloguing my games collection (around 36000 titles) by looking up games, their genres and descriptions and filling in blanks in the database. (Funnily, this task was refused by any model freely available because of the size of the database. Even the local models moan and bitch that it takes so long. No shit, this is why i outsource this!)
