4·7 days agoYou got me there. But even with protiens, RNA or DNA those only are one part of a whole needed for single/multi celled organisms.

37·7 days agoSo by your definition, a book is intelligent?
You’re missing the point that computers will NEVER be intelligent. Without lines of code that humans made and tweak, computers wont do anything.
I’m quite done arguing at this point. The pure ignorance on science and biology is quite sad.

1216·8 days agoYou’re right, material matters. If it’s not a biological organism with cell/s, it’s not sentiant or intelligent.
If humans just disapeared right now, ai would sit and do nothing. It wouldn’t “take over” or “break out” it would sit idle until a human (well I guess another living organism was capable of using keyboards and mouse) interacted with it.
All those elements you listed plus all from the periodic table of elements do not define a living, intelligent, sentiant organism. If they did, soil and cow paddies would be living.
I highly recommend going back to middle school science class again.

203·8 days agoIs a rock sentiant? Can taping wires and injecting computer code into it create intelligence? No! Lines of code doesn’t magically make something alive. Heck, ants are more intelligent and sentiant then a computer.

3412·7 days agoIt’s a computer for god’s sake. It’s no more “intelligent” than an electric mower or a car. Without human intervenion, ai technology wouldn’t advance or change.
Edit: i’m done arguing, you guys are nut jobs. Ai or any other non organic organism cannot be sentiant, conscience, or intelligent without human interaction or molecular life.
I will be using my real sentiant, free will, conscience, intelligence to not reply to any comments on this.

Technology@lemmy.world•Scammers use AI to clone Florida sheriff’s captain’s voice in fake arrest warrant callsEnglish
210·9 days agoSo tell me how am I going to track down scammers with VOIP and fake numbers? Do you think the tax payers will fund hundreds of thousands of dollars to fly to third world countriee to arrest their citizens? Do you even think other countries even give a shit about our warrants from some podunk rural county?
And no local or county agency has the manpower, technology, or ability to track those scammers. You have no clue even the slightest about these scams.
Most of the scam companies run their calls through a VPN or VPS wih constant number changes and VOIP, sometimes stolen numbers. It’s incredibly hard to trace it just through the phone. Even if you do, the scammer’s country isn’t going to do jack shit about it.
I just find it bullshit people who tell public servants how to do their job when they have no clue about any of it. eDgEy

Technology@lemmy.world•Scammers use AI to clone Florida sheriff’s captain’s voice in fake arrest warrant callsEnglish
418·10 days agoI used to work at a sheriff’s office. It would be monthly that I would get a call from someone (mostly older or really young callers) scared that they had a warrant for their arrest. I would have to explain it was a scam and we don’t call to let people know they have a warrant.
Bless their hearts, they would tell me the caller ID phone number and whatever “agent” name and “department” they called from. I just pretended to copy all the information down to do an investigation…and no, I didn’t check to see if the callers had real warrants either lol.
How ironic would it be if they wrote that article with AI? Lmao
I thought about it just as a local county wide area. Then I realized that hardly anyone outside of nerds knows what lemmy is, let alone reddit.
I plan on hosting my own mumble server when Discord shits the bed. I’m just having a private one for all my friends.
