On mbin, it’s very easy to accidentally boost (retoot) posts, and mbin doesn’t seem to propogate undoing that. any boosts you see from this account when viewing on mastodon et cetera are finger fudges, sorry!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your favorite example of a non-nazi dog whistle?
6·12 天前Neil Peart and Keith Moon come to you in a dream. Your astral body will be tested far beyond the drumming limits of your corporeal body. Upon success, you will ascend to the next level of existence. It is better that you do not know what happens when you fail.

5·13 天前lawn guylanders often tawk in a way that, like a dawg whistle, can only be heard by other lawn guylanders. you really have to listen for it, it’s subtle!

36·13 天前Not so much a position as preferences and experiences, but the words people use to describe elements of music can often give away what they either enjoy or play. If you call a rhythm a beat, you’re probably into electronic or hip hop. If you refer to a song’s chord progression as “the changes,” you must like jazz. If you use Italian words (outside of Italy I guess!) to talk about tempo and dynamics, you were either in an orchestra or fondly remember that one time at band camp. If a phrase is a “strain,” you should get your lungs checked out. If the bridge is the “middle eight,” get a colonoscopy while you’re at it.
AI isn’t the problem on its own
I can accept a plagiarism machine that is exaberatting multiple international crises, but I draw the line at too many posts on a subreddit!
like c’mon, i’m also frustrated at what’s going on in retro dev communities, but that’s small potatoes compared to just about everything else concerning LLMs
I think the dissonance about speed limits is why there are so many awful drivers, at least in my neck of the woods. You go through drivers ed and you’re trained to go exactly the speed limit in all circumstances, and then you get let loose and find out on some highways, driving under the speed limit is so slow compared to the actual rate of traffic that doing so would be dangerous. People learn that and figure that all of the rules of the road are stupid and bad and you have a country of awful drivers
it doesn’t help that, as another commenter mentioned, you can be ticketed for not moving with the flow of traffic. follow the law, and you’re still breaking the law! plus all the asshole drivers who will get right up on your rear bumper if they decide you aren’t going fast enough. damned if you do, damned if you don’t! although ultimately, going slower is almost always the better choice from a safety standpoint because of that whole “physics” thing
my two favorite media franchises are Star Trek and Sonic. how long have you got?

should’ve ported it to the Coleco Adam, gonna be real hard to type with just a number pad
