  • The question about self sacrifice is equally pointless in both cases. But for different reasons.

In case of real people it’s an entirely different thing to SAY you would sacrifice yourself than actually do it (easier said than done).

For AI it makes no sense because AI only seeks the best answer to a given question. Not the best outcome. It doesn’t care about the consequences of its answer. It’s just words. Some words seem more appropriate in a given context so it uses those words.

  • Maybe instead you should get out of Reddit, Facebook and Instagram a little. To see the real “commoners”. Meet more people with blood pressure instead of tokens.

Travel around the world a little to realise how huge it is. You might realise there is no one group called “commoners”. People living around you might see the world your way (maybe they should also leave Facebook and Instagram?) but that doesn’t mean much.

  • Probably should broaden your social interactions then?

Why? When I want to see clowns, I go to the circus.

    Americans all believe

No. That statement is a lie. I know exactly ONE American, and he doesn’t believe that, and it’s enough to disprove your statement. You didn’t talk to ALL Americans, and no objective poll shows 100% support to any idea. You just tried to sell your own opinion as a common consensus.

  • My current dark horse of the UI dark patterns is Miro (diagramming collaboration tool). They added a pop-up to advertise their AI connectivity tools (of course! What else could a tech company force on users right now?). It has animated icons that distract you until you close it… but you can either agree or select “Remind me later” and once you click that… The pop-up doesn’t disappear. The text changes and shows you the progress bar “this is how long you need to stare at this pop-up, until it disappears”. Of course, the blinking icons distract you all the time. And all of this on the payid company account that I must use at work…

On setup, they let you select the “tabbed” UI

On setup it asks you to select one of four UIs, some of them are missing features. Once I spent almost an hour trying to solve a problem, but it turned out it was unsolvable in my UI. I changed the UI and found a solution in a moment.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the fact that OpenOffice exists, but their UI needs a lot of work
