  • Yes, and there are pretty old worlds, from the time of MUDs and with similar public.

EDIT: There’s such a Russian fantasy writer as Alexey Pekhov, with worlds kinda based in notable enough plagiarism of Thief games universe, VtM and Sapkowski, but his things are a subject of nostalgy for me ; so - there are still running NWN worlds based on them, and their peak of popularity was like 15 years ago in a completely different world (meaning IRL).

  • Time to install NWN. Never could get too interested in playing it, except perhaps listening to music and looking at maps while running around, especially with cheeky DnD character names and armor and looks and plot, but it’s a DnD game with decent custom campaign with multiplayer ability, the closest it seems for me to IRL DnD of those games, and really removing the need for remembering dozens of nonsense numbers and rules.

They also made Linux version of NWN in the olden days, if somebody perhaps remembers. When I was trying to become an advanced Linux user, I first installed Debian and liked it, then tried Gentoo and failed to find where my wireless drivers are, or to set wi-fi up, in any case couldn’t use it without wire, but got a look of vanilla Gnome 2 of its last supported days, it was very nice, and installed NWN from portage (it was there) and played it a bit. Then moved to Slackware, and also played Linux versions of NWN and old CK2 (somehow it was less laggy than now and seemed more balanced, history in the game seemed to develop more logically, except, of course, it was just a glossified and simplified European feudalism simulator with no ambition and no sense in playing anywhere but South Germany).

  • No, it’s not necessarily constructed from real CSAM. It can be constructed from real photos of children and real porn.

Anyway, when saying that someone should be jailed, you should consider all the main possibilities.

EDIT: And when you have real porn with adults, hentai with supposed adults and anime with children, that might be good enough to generate something that’s technically like generated CSAM, even if the quality might not be too good. Anyway, I’m not very well-versed on quality of CSAM.

  • Harmful about law, useful about facts of life one like that generating a picture doesn’t involve abusing a child, so it’s not child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Yes, I do feel threatened by people who think it’s just to punish consuming generated material. That’s because of pretty “normal” porn. Is watching (and spreading) something about BSDM similar to sexual abuse materials (about adults)? Is generated porn sexual exploitation material, if porn is in some future outlawed as such with real punishments? Is it, if the dataset is polluted with cases of slavery and rape? If it’s not, then is it legal in such a potential future?

If you do that to CSAM, try applying the same logic to normal porn and plenty of other things which are for some people sick, but legal because nobody suffers.

The problem with generated CSAM is that it normalizes sick things, well, that’s still a crime an order of magnitude less than spreading a record of real rape. Seems obvious.

  • I personally don’t care if it was produced artificially or not. These sick fucks need to be imprisoned and thrown in gen pop.

If it’s produced artificially, then he hasn’t done any ill to a living person. He has polluted the Web, but in doing that has reduced the demand for non-artificial CSAM. It’s like “posting goatse in Facebook” level of crime at best.

And you are calling for him to be imprisoned for being a “sick fuck”, that is, for thought crime caused by mental illness.

Other than the latter being a circumstance, thought crimes are not a thing for any decent person, AFAIR.

Otherwise I’d want for sick fucks like you not understanding that a crime is a violation of someone else’s rights to be preventively imprisoned. That at least fits said condition.

  • At the same time AI-transitioning companies are not those under whom the control is being centralized, all those managers don’t seem to understand this. If demand for developers and their negotiating position against employers is eroding due to this technology, then so is that of those employers against their customers.

Meaning, of course, that there will be changes in demand for tech workers in the world even after the bubble burst. I’m mentally prepared to try myself in trades. Woodworking is nice. All the dangers of losing your fingers or getting git in the head with something heavy, accompanying construction jobs, are sad, while construction is cool.
