Also after plugging one side in, the other side is a fun little cattle prod.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Why Is Guy Fawkes Associated With the Anonymous Mask?
10·1 day agoTIL, we use the phrase “roll up the window” because early car windows had manual cranks that to be turned to open or close them.
I found a bunch of old floppies from gradeschool, so I picked up a USB drive to archive them. Wild seeing files with modified dates starting in 19xx.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•should we have tried to get off big tech earlier?
1·2 days agobut making them easy enough for mass adoption
In the attention economy, making them easy enough translates to making them addictive enough. I’ve been using a dumbphone for four years and every time someone asks about it, they say something like “I wish I could do that.”
The thing people want is also what they hate.

News@lemmy.world•The Pitt and ER are similar enough for lawsuit to proceed, judge rules
52·2 days agoSure. Just providing an outside perspective. I haven’t watched either show, and that’s the connection I made.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your weird talent that you almost never show anyone?
26·2 days agoI can write upside down pretty well. This once got me a job offer after I did all the example problems so they were upright for the interviewer.

117·2 days agoThey could have chosen not to cast Noah Wyle. I legit thought it was a sequel to ER.

From the Seattle Science March in 2017. Nobody knew.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What basic or everyday thing did you recently find out you were doing wrong?
1·5 days agoNothing that fancy. Just getting a good char. But the pan dries out everywhere not touching meat, so bits get caked on a bit.
The bread is Pan de muerto. I just learned this from this post

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What basic or everyday thing did you recently find out you were doing wrong?
2·6 days agoDepends on how stuck things get. I do a lot of blackening of meat which tends to leave dry cooked bits on the pan which don’t wash out so easy.
Came here to say YouTube. Also because our doctor sent us videos regarding care for our recent pregnancy, so we unwillingly had Google know we were pregnant.
Also computer processors. RISC-V can’t advance fast enough.
Also ticketing. NFTs would actually be great for managing venue ticketing and someone needs to eat Ticketmaster’s lunch.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What basic or everyday thing did you recently find out you were doing wrong?
5·6 days agoI have one of those too, but I usually don’t need it with the heat and steam method. Most of the stuck-on foodstuff comes off with just a spray from the faucet. No need to even scrub.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your advice for second-level around-the-house tools?
27·6 days agoEndoscope. $50. Uses phone as screen. 10’ wire with camera and light on the end. Saved my ass when wiring through the walls so many times.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What basic or everyday thing did you recently find out you were doing wrong?
28·6 days agoCleaning cast iron. I used to add water cold and bring to a boil. Now I heat first until grease is almost smoking, then add a bit of water and let it steam and sputter itself clean.

Counterfeit or no, I think this perfectly captures the spirit of the originals.

YMMV. In my toogoodtogo experience, many stores use it as a way to get you in the door.
