  • You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. You are just moving the goal posts with every post, thinking you have a valid point each time.

You: EVs have bad power to weight ratios.

Reply: EVs have a better power to weight ratio than ICE.

You: Oh, I meant weight only. They can only do drag racing and can’t do turns.

Reply: EVs perform better than ICE at similar price points on road tracks with turns.

You: Oh, I meant only the high end EVs. They aren’t any better than the cheaper EVs.

Reply: High end Porsche EV is faster than most ICE super cars and much faster than cheaper EVs.

You: Oh, but Porsche EVs have bad resale value.

Just accept that you are wrong.

  • Fucking awesome.

While some of the coach drivers treat their horses well, many do not. The horses mostly look miserable. Imagine you are constantly outside, exposed to loud noise of traffic in NYC. Not fun. Now imagine you are a horse who has no idea what all that craziness is, but you are forced to be out in it while stomping your hard toenail feet onto concrete for long days while pulling fat tourists.

  • It absolutely is, and it works against anyone not in the club. I was once told by a GM in my company whom I knew outside of work, “you will apply for this job and get it. Then you will apply for that job’s manager’s job and get it. After that I won’t be able to help you.” Once I got outside his sphere of influence, I no longer had anyone advocating for me and haven’t been able to get any new jobs, lateral or promotion, since. To be fair, I’m not a great employee and have risen to the level of my incompetence; but I’ve seen other people get promotions who were not as good at the job as me because they do more of the company social stuff.

And I know that those networks definitely favor men in my industry. So you’re right, even if there isn’t outright, noticeable discrimination against women; strong bias exists.

  • Maybe, and I’m just spitballing here, but maybe that is because there is far far more suffering and atrocities being committed on Palestinians? No, that would just make too much sense.

Let’s just assume The Guardian wrote 10 times as many articles about the suffering of Palestinians than the suffering of the Israelis. That would only make sense if there happened to be 10 times as much suffering. Since 7 Oct, roughly 2050 Israelis have been killed and roughly 74,000 Palestinians have been killed. That is definitely not 10 times as much suffering. It is more like 36 times as much suffering. And that is only the deaths (most of whom were civilians who had nothing to do with the attacks). How many Israeli hospitals have been destroyed? How many Israeli homes have been destroyed? How many Israelis have been permanently displaced?

It’s almost like you believe that Palestinians have lower value than Israelis.

  • Back when credit cards had to take paper carbon copies from a subset of retailers that had been certified to take credit, try their damnedest to decipher the faint blue numbers and names, verify the account information by hand, take on significant risk for higher purchase prices due to lower computer capabilities, then process the billing… Yeah, I can see why they charged 3% to every transaction.

Nowadays, all of that is automated and digital and proliferated. There is no reason why AMEX should get $0.50 from every purchase of a Happy Meal. There is also no reason why Visa should get more money from a $20 purchase than it gets from a $100 purchase. It’s the same amount of work! Same argument about TicketMaster charging a $200 convenience fee on a $500 ticket but only $100 on a $250 ticket.
