What the fuck are you talking about?
EDIT: My bad, joke went way over my head
I figured I wasn’t alone in doing that, but anyone I’ve told about it seemed to think I was nuts. My original inspiration for it was a piece of advice for jet lag- to stay up until it is a good bedtime for your destination, even if you are tired.
Lol this is the face my therapist made when I mentioned that my natural sleep cycle (circadian rhythm?) doesn’t quite align with 24 hour days and drifts over time, so I occasionally I do what I call a “sleep leap day”, where I pull an all-nighter and continue through the next day to ‘reset’ it.

Technology@lemmy.world•Walmart Running Into Trouble as Its Super-Expensive Robots Can’t Handle the Realities of Warehouse Work: It's an automation "arms race."English
6·2 days agoNo, they aren’t saying that “humans are meant to be shuffling around a warehouse picking and packing orders mindlessly.”
The point is that the processes are designed around human operators with specific considerations for the abilities and constraints of an average human. Dropping a robot into a process without updating said process around the abilities and constraints of the robot creates new problems. Humans and robots work in different ways and cannot be substituted 1:1 without creating problems.
Oh, gotcha. I read it as a conversation they had with their guardian that happened in their first year at college, not necessarily that the relationship started at that point.
Pretty hypocritical to talk about having empathy and then turn around and fling an ableist slur at people you dislike.
Somebody who is responsible for a kid. It’s a broader term than parent that includes people who have a different relationship but are ultimately raising the kid, like aunts/uncles, grandparents, foster parents, or anyone else who might be responsible for the kid.

Technology@lemmy.world•Mainstream News Anchors Now Talking About the AI Bubble Bursting at Any Moment: "I think the entire AI boom is investing in the wrong future."English
3·3 days agoI mean, it’s likely that a good chunk of these hyperscale data centers and some of these big corporate LLMs will run out of cash and close shop. We’ll probably see a big pivot to much more efficient models that are local and/or purpose-built, not unlike what the Chinese are already doing.

Technology@lemmy.world•Mainstream News Anchors Now Talking About the AI Bubble Bursting at Any Moment: "I think the entire AI boom is investing in the wrong future."English
21·3 days agoAn economic bubble doesn’t require that the assets suddenly disappear upon the bubble popping.
The 2008 financial crisis was caused in part by the popping of a real estate bubble in the US. Those properties didn’t magically evaporate after the bubble popped, though many families couldn’t afford to keep their homes.
In the same manner, nobody is really suggesting that LLMs will suddenly disappear after the AI bubble pops, only that they will probably be proven to be significantly less profitable and get scaled back.

15·4 days agoIt’s funny to me that the descriptions of “havana syndrome” are largely just migraine symptoms.
Maybe wait longer than 40 minutes to repost an image within the same comm?
Somebody used ai to launder a leaked source. From what I understand, it’s about as functional as one can expect a fully slop coded project to be (barely).
I drove a 2018 model (ICE) for a couple years. That was the first model year, so I can’t speak to how it’s changed since then.
Overall, it was… fine. Despite what I wrote below, it was a serviceable car with a few issues that I couldn’t live with.
My biggest complaints and the reasons I ultimately traded it in were twofold: Space and noise.
There was a surpring lack of space in the CHR- it felt cramped inside despite being a large crossover. I’d get uncomfortable after about an hour of driving (I had a long commute), the trunk space was very limited, and the rear seats were positioned such that a passenger couldn’t actually look out the window.
The car also had next to no sound insulation. The wind noise on the highway was excessively loud to the point that I could barely hear the radio.
Most of my other problems with the CHR, like the infotainment, gas mileage, and underpowered engine were addressed in later model years or are irrelevant to the EV version.
For me it’s mainly to enable Canta so I can uninstall all the extra bullshit on my phone.
