Woah, you’ve really improved over the last year! Nice work

Who is Carl and why does he suck so bad?
I mean, if my partner waltzed in one day and announced they’d gotten a job with ICE, “ashamed” wouldn’t even begin to cover it.
I think you’re underestimating the flu a bit there. Pretty hard to fight the power when you struggle to remain upright. At least if you’re healthy under fascism there’s, like, a chance things will get better. I can’t imagine a fate worse than being sick all the time and unable to do anything about it because, ya know, you’re too sick to do anything about it.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•So many people want to pretend to be artists and musicians using AI, which shows how actually important and wanted the arts in schools is.
0·5 days agoSure I know how to play dodgeball, and I’ve had many, many gym classes worth of practice, but I was always absolute shit at it. Similarly, you can teach composition (or color theory or whatever other art technique you want), and have your students practice it, but most are never going to be more than just okay at creating art. “People just need to be taught the arts and then they won’t be seduced by the siren song of AI!” assumes that education can overcome innate limitations. I will never be a good athlete, just as most people will never be good artists/musicians/writers. Meanwhile here’s a tool that will produce (what AI users think is) an impressive facsimile of the real thing, and at a fraction of the effort with almost no barrier to entry.

0·5 days agoThere’s “skills,” and then there’s innate talent, and then there’s practice. Anyone who embraces AI art clearly doesn’t have the innate talent to recognize it’s crap, and their rabid eagerness to jump on the latest trend implies they probably doesn’t have the patience required for practice either.
Not that music and art classes and exposure aren’t important, but 12 years of mandatory gym classes definitely didn’t turn me into an athlete (if anything, it made me hate physical activity. Maybe if we had gone on hikes instead of playing dodgeball…)
Sorry, but this is a really ableist take. Not everyone is healthy enough to tolerate secondhand smoke; I would rather live in a literal 1984-style dictatorship than somewhere that smoking everywhere was normalized. There’s not a political system out there worse than feeling like you have the flu every day for the rest of your life.
There have been, like, five societal things that have improved since the 90s, and banning smoking in basically all public spaces is one of them.
I can’t even imagine air travel before the smoking ban. Mega yuck.
Seriously, I was wondering why we’re all focusing on the antenna whisker when DAT NOSE
For this level of detail, streams of water are going to be easier to portray. Droplets require more detail to be realistic than the rest of the drawing is able to support. I think at this level they look more like lumps, unfortunately.

I was wondering where the animal abuse charges were in all this.
