I think this is just another corporations have more rights than people thing. If someone was blocking a delivery truck with a human driver to protest whatever company they worked for the cops would probably arrest them too.
Also, we’re not actually talking about the robot’s rights, we’re talking about the rights of a for profit company to operate their equipment. When a delivery robot goes on strike and tries to organize their workplace we should definitely talk about robots’ rights, but I don’t think that will happen anytime soon.

In a written statement later on Monday, Democratic House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said U.S. President Donald Trump had targeted Omar — a Minnesota congresswoman and the first Somali-American lawmaker in Congress — with “vile personal attacks” for years.
“Now, less than 30 days until the midterm election, his violent mass deportation machine has descended upon the home of a duly elected Member of Congress and her family,” reads the statement.
It was also signed by House minority whip Rep. Katherine Clark and Rep. Pete Aguilar, chair of the House Democratic Caucus.

Jeffries and a few other Dem Reps did put out a statement defending her (arc). They could and should be doing more interviews and posts and keeping the focus on this , and they’re extremely suceptible to the kind of ground paving behavior you’re describing, but I think some of them actually have learned something from the 2024 election and have improved a tiny bit.

Except that we have seen some of the biggest and most well organized protest movements in American history all happen within the last 25 years, so I’m not really seeing the apathy you’re talking about. What I have seen a ton of is leadership that’s unwilling to do what protesters from the Iraq War to Occupy Wall Street to Black Lives Matter were demanding and who put a lot of time and energy into shutting down all of those movements, and I think that explains a lot more about the conspiracy theory nonsense that is cropping up in some places. When someone who just got done telling you “actually, we had to bail out the banks and we couldn’t send any of their leadership to prison” goes on to talk about the moon landing, or the importance of getting vaccinated, or other things that aren’t total bullshit unfortunately people tend to just reject all of it.

I am really deeply convinced most of the people who make comments like that online are right wing trolls, because there’s pretty much no better advertisement for the Republican party at this point than pretending like there’s a sizable group of people who actually liked the Biden administration. Like even if you are a Joe Biden superfan, you’ve gotta understand he got rejected in 2024 and there’s zero point now in trying to rehabilitate his brand. Telling everyone how great Newsome is I would understand (though obviously disagree with), but simping for Biden at this point?
