Exactly my thinking. I’m old enough to remember buying those tiny cassette tapes.

They can’t leave a message. No different than any service, although my phone is functionally never dead. In my case it’s just not an issue.
Important to consider to be sure!

I sometimes say I’ve got a mind like a rock… it takes a long time to get things in there, but once they are there, they aren’t going anywhere. Another way to look at it is that there is a difference between max speed and max distance. I am very patient, and I will keep learning something to the point of mastery , but have little use for quickly acquired, disposable information and skills. As a learner, I will not go as fast as most, but I will be able to go further.
It is also helpful in teaching situations. When you have learned something slowly, it can make you more able to teach it to someone else.
There is a popular book called Thinking, Fast and Slow, which examines this in more detail.

I’d think that would be Obstructing public thoroughfare. Without saying the full interaction, it’s hard to say. It looks like she’s just standing in one place and it’s possible to pass on one side. It’ll be interesting to see what the lawyers decide on this one.

According to police, Marvin repeatedly blocked the robot’s path and ignored multiple commands from officers to move.
She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
Can standing in a public space legally be enforced as “disorderly conduct?”
Phew, what a second panel!

Okay, so the good news is you found your one true love…

Worth noting that this lawsuit alleges Expedia is even causing higher prices if you book directly from the hotel. That’s exactly what you would expect to see in a monopolistic pricing scheme.

Probably embrace, extend, extinguish.
Really like this one. It’s a whole mood.

For the immediate future, Europeans are personally and politically invested in digital sovereignty. The best way to get ahead quickly is to invest in open source projects. For the time being, interests seem to be aligned in favor of FOSS.
Of course, you are right. It can’t last forever.

Got it. So a foreign militia in Lebanon is the proper government of Lebanon, a foreign militia in Yemen is the proper government of Lebanon. We see what you are doing here.

Suggesting that the Houthi Iranian regional militia is “Yemen” is either astoundingly ignorant or truly unhinged.

Europe is increasingly funding projects through NGOs and government foundations. If FOSS software is a public good, then we should devote public funds to it.
Some projects offer paid hosting for those who can’t or don’t wasn’t to self-host. Some (particularly mobile apps) push a paid version to stores to subsidize those using FOSS sources to download.

Some possibilities I found through search:
Greater digital independence. I currently use Voxist, which is… fine.
I don’t really want more corporate spyware on my phone from Google or my carrier or whoever. I’d prefer something FOSS, and private. That means on-device (or self hosted, but I don’t even know how that would work.)
