I’d appreciate it if everyone could just stop burning fossil fuels, please. Thank you for your cooperation.

ratcheting down every year until it reaches 74 grams per mile (46 grams/km)
The time for wrangling about the exact levels of emissions limits is past. The limit should be zero. Actual zero, not “zero emissions” where zero is defined as some non-zero amount that’s substantially less than average.
“But what about the economy?” I am asked. If this marvellous, stable, infinitely ingenious economy is worth saving, then it will find a way to adapt efficiently to the change.
The other one’s for left-handed people.

Only a politician looking for a way to end her career would commit to that.

It seems pretty obvious that they would never even consider using “American truck” like that. It would be “Ford F150” or whatever.

Interesting that in the headline it’s a “Chinese EV” rather than any specific model. Imagine seeing the same headline but with “American truck.”
Yeah, I thought so. Billionaire-backed proposals to spy on everyone have so much in common around the world.
A proposal for mass surveillance of all Internet users named the “KIDS ACT” huh. What a clever name for such a thing. Did the Americans write it, or did the same people who write bills for the Americans write it?

I don’t know if it will help to ask lemmy for advice about the effects of soaking 325 GSM cotton in citric acid. I think you may already be the world’s leading expert on the idea of soaking clothing in citric acid.
Other than that though, if mildew is growing on your drying laundry I can only guess that you might want better ventilation or to wait until it’s not raining.

“Hacker” and “AI” are words made mostly useless by widespread misunderstandings about what they mean. “Baud” and “GIF” are words made more useful by people not caring about the technical details of what they used to mean.
That does not make it impossible to say things about hackers or AI. If you’ve got something substantial to say on either topic it’s not that hard to make it clear in context that you’re using the word in an unusually correct way.
I do not accept “infinite scroll” as shorthand for all that bullshit. I don’t like infinite scroll much myself, for other reasons, but this is the Fediverse. There are plenty of people around here looking at pages containing nothing but things in chronological order posted by people they chose to follow, and choosing to load more by scrolling down.
How the scrollbar works says nothing about what’s on the page. You could make similar claims about web pages in general — you never really know if you’ll get what you were looking for. If anything, having to click “next” to try again would make it more like a loot box. But still not much like a loot box, usually.

I download albums (through piracy or not) and add them to my modest mp3 collection the same way I used to buy CDs — once in a while when it seems like a good idea. If there’s an album I don’t think is worth listening to again, I delete it.

For most of us, thinking random thoughts about it while in the shower is probably not the most effective way to gain an understanding of the mathematical details of quantum mechanics.

They’re directly lobbying the government on a massive scale. They’re looking for every opportunity to force their software on people buying any computer, like they always have. They’re looking for every technical trick to screw the competition, and to extract more from their customers. Where it’s possible (i.e. not LibreOffice) they’re buying up any company that does threaten to successfully compete with them. They bought half the video game industry for example. They’re buying their way into all the schools so kids grow up knowing nothing but the Microsoft life.
I mean what else would they do? It’s Microsoft.

If you seriously want to know, bear in mind that you’re only going to get answers here from the kind of people willing to watch a youtube video based on nothing more than that clickbait thumbnail, and that audience might consist mainly of very weird people.
Python is fine, or maybe Java. They’re both widely used and therefore “versatile” — because what matters there is not the language itself but the libraries and such that are easy to find and use. Python is probably easier to get started and do fun things with, but Android apps are typically Java which might make a difference since you mentioned mobile apps.
