About the Marxist-Leninist -situation…

On certain instances here, there are tons of “tankies”, which are a group composed of Chinese and Russian propagandists, their bots, and useful idiots, who do not realize they are hanging in the metaphorical nazi bar, and are falling for their rhetoric. Tankies are essentially authoritarians larping as leftists, and have nothing to do with communism, for example. They will tell you stuff, like Ukraine belongs to Russia (or has nazis, and needs liberating), and that China does not genocide its minorities (and that tibetans deserve to be “civilized”). Anything criticizing Russian and Chinese authoritarian regimes, is evil propaganda (by CIA, the USA, or “the West” in general) to them.
They do not argue in good faith, and giving them attention just allows them to get more visibility. They will try to bait people to write longer and longer rants, by multi-point arguments, that need tons of reading to disprove, or by insulting you/your country/etc., to derail the discussion, and to make you enraged and write those rants. The point is to exhaust you, to spread confusing info, and to make you seem bad, so that people will not believe you, but are more likely to believe them.

(For the context, I am from Finland, and my aim at fighting the propaganda is, to try to prevent people from supporting Russian imperialism, so that Russia might be able to change at some point, and stop attacking and invading their neighboring countries (so a personal motive), and to criticize Chinese government for committing attrocities. I feel sorry for all the Russian and Chinese people, who have to live under the oppression. Unless they support invading their neighbors and genociding, that is straight up evil.
I am also against the terrible things the USA is doing, mind you. Their propaganda machines just are not working very well here, since almost every lemmy user, seems to be against the USA government already.)

Since the genocide of palestinians does not affect their countries much, it is an easy issue to use, to flag themselves as being on the good side. That makes pushing propaganda easier, since they have at least one good point, so left-leaning people will start with considering them more likely allies than not. Also blaming someone here for supporting genocide is an easy way, to get people enraged, so they use it also as a derailment tactic.

I got badly traumatized by seeing the scene in the beginning, where they cut off Imhotep’s tongue, and put him alive in the sarcophagus, and throw the buckets of those flesh crawling beetles in there, and have never been able to watch the mummy movies. Seeing posts like this is probably good, since I get more hilarious thoughts about them. Maybe if I see enough shitposts like this, I will be able to watch them some day. They have been blocking my VPN provider for over a year now, demanding a log-in. Sometimes a link accidentally takes me there, so occasionally I get to confirm they are still blocking it. Not that I really care, I can find the info elsewhere, or if I cannot, I do not need it.

I would get behind that, rather than pay some private company I do not trust. At least something EU-controlled, would be a bit more trusthworthy, than some shady business from who knows where and under what actual ownership. I do not trust company privacy policies at all anymore, all of them are lying as much as they can, since there are no real repercussions for it, except losing paying customers - which they will not lose, since they are able to lie as much as they want.

Could two of the three countries essentially holding the most world power, have a reason to affect the third one, that they have historically considered an enemy? And on the platfom, consisting of people from the implied country, that are mostly disappointed with their shitty system, and maybe possible to convince to not use their vote against the openly facist party, trying to push a dictatorship with a leader, that is beneficial to those two other countries? Hmmmm I wonder.

It is the propaganda machine (or, machines, both chinese and russian ones, though this one called out the chinese). Right now, they are very active, trying to get the citizens of the USA, to not vote in their election.

You can spot them even in this chain, not only throwing those short accusations, but writing those longer and longer responses, trying to bait people to answer, to tire them out, to get to spread their propaganda, and to get more visibility. They will also downvote discussions like these, so it is also easy to tell, when they are around. And everything negative said against Chinese government, is a psy-op by CIA, or people being racist, colonialists, nazis, supporting genocide in Gaza etc… for some reason especially the chinese ones seem to like the Gaza-blaming. I guess it is a sore point for many people, to be accused of supporting that genocide, which then gets the discussion derailed from what China does, as they get enraged.

Those too, will be someone’s or something’s shit, eventually.

To be fair, esentially all of the comments here are based on personal experiences. It would not be a much of a discussion, if everyone was just throwing scientific facts around… The scientific results do support warming, though, denying that is stupid.

When they get away with it from the start, they do not learn the important lessons. Kids need to be taught these things, when they are little, so they do not become fucking assholes, who start insulting, and even assaulting other people in the first place. But once they are past that, the sooner someone gives them some immediate consequences, the sooner they are going to learn the important lessons - the hard way. Obviously violence should always be avoided, but at some point, if they get away with it long enough, it becomes the only thing bullies understand.

Also, if someone bullies you, defend yourself from the start, even if you get trouble for it. It makes them more likely to choose another target and maybe even stop bullying, and keeps your self-respect intact. And that last part matters a lot, especially considering how the bullying will affect you in long-term.

Also sometimes there is wrong information written in the files, or something vital missing, so asking minimizes the risks. For example I have an allergy to a certain medicine, and it has been written in the systems like five times, but still it does not always show up. Once I got the wrong stuff straight to my veins in the hospital, since they started it as IV, before they had time to ask me the basic questions (I had very high fever). Luckily it is not a deadly allergy, and they did ask soon, so the consequences were minor. Imagine something like that, but with something deadly.

Now, this has naught to do with the comic’s point - how women are not taken seriously by doctors. How they are seen just as walking incubators, how doctors sometimes only care, will the woman still be able to have children, how women’s pain is dismissed, how tearing and other after birth issues are brushed off and not treated, and how there still is barely any medical research, that includes women as test subjects. The list goes on.

Good point, and I do agree otherwise, but the whole long border is mostly just forest, with barely any residents or infrastructure anywhere close, especially when you go up north, which is what makes the mines so appealing. Even if some natural (or caused) disaster would happen, having some remote area full of uncharted mines, is a far smaller problem, than what not having them could cause. Also, just the knowledge we do have them, and they might be somewhere, is pretty useful in itself.
