This is accurate, because the guy (“wealth”) will pick up that taco (“trickled down profits”) and eat it too when he’s done

Or because there’s food cooking in there
Demands like that from the kind of people who called Obama “Barry” and Biden “Brandon” just make me laugh
To be fair, “affect” in this story isn’t a super common word
As mentioned elsewhere, it’s a shortening of “affectation”, and is pronounced a fair bit differently: where “affect” like you’re thinking has emphasis on the second syllable, the “affect” in the story has it on the first syllable, and even puts the “f” in the first syllable rather than the second.
I’d argue this isn’t an exception as this doesn’t fit the rule at all, as neither word is being used here, a word that’s spelled the same as one of them is causing confusion as it’s a fairly uncommon word
Because I know enough English and recognize which word is being used based on which one actually fits
In this case, “affect” and “affect” are two different words that are spelled the same but mean different things and are pronounced differently
No, there’s a crossing guard! Didn’t you read that part?

1·1 month ago“Prediction markets” is sure one hell of a marketing spin.
It’s gambling. Nothing more, nothing less.
Then the burn will be on the bottom instead of the top
I suggest using a spinning mount and set the monitor orientation to constantly rotate slowly. Problem solved.

The proposition, prop 40, seems likely to fail anyway, though… Even if it passes, both props after it, 41 and 42, have to fail, because either of them will effectively cancel 40 even if it passes, and they’re sold as things like “protecting your retirement”
