I don’t know it either, but I figure it’s the same general idea that is fairly common, which is that certain spaces should be reserved for certain activities.
i.e. bedroom is for rest and sleeping, this corner is for reading, this room is for being creative, this room is for work. it helps focus you on what you are doing in the moment

more like “oh, yes! what next?”
*that look like they’re in their 50s
they’re actually 33

you want an economical, practical, reliable car that you’re happy with and that will develop brand loyalty?
too bad, best I can do is something that has a touchscreen cockpit you won’t be able to use in sunlight and without taking your eyes off the road, headlights that will blind oncoming traffic at all times but especially some of the most dangerous times, and reliability that will have you back in the dealership every few months for issues that are overly complicated to fix!
I’m actually impressed that the votes flip-flopped

I actually did think about taking that out, because I agree, that should be effective communication and I say similar things myself. I don’t know how to explain it right now but the way that he said it was exactly like talking to AI, whereas the way I phrase it is more natural. I got two separate opinions on the matter with multiple examples from both myself and the AI bot guy lmfao, and they both agreed that I sounded like a person and the other guy sounded like a bot
that’s what they’re doing. they’re not playing (skipping) the boring parts
totally understandable
it is one of my favourite games. I never think of it as being a game on which I have a high play time, but the stats show differently lol
if you like that type of game (base building, exploration, farming, survival, combat), I highly recommend giving it another try. I haven’t played it in a while, but if the modding scene was great a few years ago that I’m sure it’s just as good now.
I typically played with quality of life mods like material stacking (less time spent running back and forth moving items around), save games (death resets you to the start of the day, not deletes your world), and some food things to make the game less grindy and focused on resource management (food spoilage rates changed). the core mechanics of the game are all still there, but it’s much more friendly for the casual player who is looking to relax, allowing you to focus on the parts that are fun like building up to fight a giant and exploring.
IIRC mods are also very easy to install with the built-in mod configurator in the game — no need to use an external launcher or manually manage mods like with Minecraft
fr some people just don’t think, smh my head

I will note that for some of us outside the US, just getting rid of him is not enough. there are many steps to be made as part of reparations, and seeing justice happen is one of them.
they suck on stroads, yes. they’re mostly fine in tight downtown areas alongside a single vehicle lane.
I think most people refer to physically separated bike paths that share the same road surface as bike lanes. personally, I don’t really like completely separate bike paths (around here, most commonly multi use paths), because they’re not actually designed as infrastructure, but as recreation, so connections and directness are poor.
but, yes, just tossing in a bike lane is not the proper solution, it’s a bandaid on the way to a complete infrastructure replan. and fuck you Ontario for blocking them and ripping them out

I used to be that person. that time came and went. shame for the company, since there’s only one other person in the department that can do that kind of thing. oh well, that was the company’s choice.
yes, I’ll make stuff for myself, but only if I really want to, otherwise I’m happy to let things take longer because I wasn’t given time to make a tool for the team. not worth the stress, I’d rather go outside.

this is the kind of shit that gives me small comfort
they want to make me use a shitty stupid terrible slow system? ok, fine. but I’m gonna take my sweet time with it. oh, something else isn’t getting done? damn, probably should’ve thought of that before you implemented a system that you were warned was going to slow down 99% of the company employees and cost tons of quantifiable time

and your comment put a smile on my face after a really shitty day, so thank you for that

I know, that’s what pisses me off - they could have had a great return in investment in something simple like that, but nope, that hasn’t happened
and fuck if I’m gonna do it, I have other shit to do. I’ve got other tools specific to my team’s workflow that I don’t have time to make.

that’s what gets me. they just provide a simple, relatively unchanging service, that mostly just works.
I curse Microsoft daily for the shit I have to put up with just trying to do my job (it’s actually crazy to me how much wasted labour there is because of dumb changes from Microsoft) because they are endlessly searching for even more profit. and they could just… still be raking in cash if they just provided a service that worked. like Valve. but that’s not enough

honestly, the more we hire more people, the more I get it
we used to only hire quality people. we were picky. small company, so everybody there needed to be a contributor. now we just hire to have bodies in chairs and they’re noticeably less capable, and half of them sound like AI themselves.
fuck, I worked with one guy that would actually say “yes, you’re right, I was wrong about xyz, it should actually be abc” when you prodded three levels deep to find out how a dumb fuck up happened
my point is, some of these people absolutely could be replaced by AI and it would have less if an impact than my original estimations
the impact of hunting for food is so far below the impact of industrial agriculture and other things, it’s fine
