Thank you for the lesson, I am trying to get better at recognizing fallacies.

1·2 days agoVoting strategically is very easy in Australia with mandatory voting and a preferential system, so I will do.

I’m weary of the slippery slope fallacy embedded in your reply, I’m not sure if using some AI often results quality to fall out the window.
Also I don’t really trust any new projects to be maintained for a long time, unless I trust the developer(s) have a clear commitment to supporting it in the long term.
this project (configarr) is one I’ve been using in myself-hosted setup clearly uses AI to help with development, although I’m not sure to what extent. It’s been maintained consistently for 2 years.
Avoiding using brand new programs has worked quite well for me not being left with unmaintained software so far.

2·3 days agoUnionising, organising, Striking and protesting is the second best way to improve living conditions, and you can do it right now. Historically the best advancements in living conditions in most of the world, including the US have been through striking. Not voting.

1·4 days agoI think that has been the tactic for the last 200 years, and it hasn’t really gotten the US anywhere.
No one has suggested a better alternative to me. I’d love to hear it
We need to unite as workers and revolt against the bourgeoisie! To form a democracy that works for workers, not the elite.
Using AI isn’t just a sign of laziness. I don’t see an issue with using the tools available to do something in less time than usual. If a program is vibe coded then of course it’s usually going to be of bad quality, but if it’s a mix of human and human checked AI then it can still be a high quality project.

4·5 days agoY I’m not saying they are exactly the same, of course democrats have some benefits over republicans but not funding a genocide is a pretty low bar. The democrats haven’t been taking any real steps to reverse the fascist rabbit whole the US is sliding into. I don’t think voting for democrats and expecting real change is a good tactic.

5·5 days agoThe democrats aren’t much better either though. Supporting imperialist wars, being pro Zionism, receiving the majority of their funding from extremely rich people. I haven’t seen them implement some extremely obvious and beneficial policies like a proper universal income, decent minimum wages, free healthcare, etc.
Regardless of all of that, do you see a future where people actually vote for democrats consistently? After 200 years of back and forth I personally don’t see it changing any time soon.

6·5 days agoCan you blame people for voting red when all the media in the United States is made by rich people designed to convince workers that fascist policies are good for them? A fair democracy can’t have corporate owned media.

9·5 days agoIf you have a democracy how come the US government so often does things no one voted/asked for? Unless the US government tricks everyone into thinking it’s a democracy so they can shift the blame away from themselves whenever they do something horrible.
Now just like how every fascist society ended we need to vote and work within the system to escape! /s
That goes for AI and human made software. You should only use security critical software that is trusted by the community.
There are private youtube front-ends like freetube that don’t have an algorythm. If you think youtube is full of slop then just don’t watch the slop.
Nebula is still centralized and has a much more limited content selection that requires a process for new creators to join. Also I’m not sure what you would define as small but many content creators on that platform earn way more than enough money.
If you want to support creators you can donate through them directly.
Look I hate youtube and google as much as you, I just don’t think nebula is the solution we should be looking for. We should be advocating for free, decentralised alternatives. Not another for proffit business that advocates itself as being friendly and community centered before enshitifying as soon as it gets popular enough.
Why would you pay for a YouTube replacement with far less content? Just use an ad-blocker, sponsor blocker or a private frontend. Maybe even torrent-tube if your into that kind of thing.
Even people who are don’t seam to care. One of my local revolutionary socialist org’s still uses WhatsApp for there general communication. I think it takes a special kind of nerdyness and neurodivergence.
I don’t have an issue with this. If it’s AI you can usually tell, if you can’t tell then even if it’s AI it’s not slop and it’s fine to use.

1·8 days agoI will be extremely surprised if this comes anywhere near gimp. AI is not at the stage were is can create amazing software all by itself. It will likely be buggy and/or feature incomplete.

My bad for procrastinating reading this for 23 days (it’s been at the bottom of my unread inbox) If we’re going to continue this conversation let’s keep the messages short (if possible) so my adhd brain doesn’t get overwhelmed. Also since it’s been 23 days I won’t be taken aback if you don’t reply.
Thanks for telling me what you mean by neoliberal rugpulling.
Although I can understand the use of heuristics to simplify complex things (when the simplification is reasonably accurate) I just don’t see the russian revolution turning out that way, and I think most Russians would agree.
