My husband’s cat (by her own designation—she chose him) sleeps at the foot of my side of the bed because I don’t kick her in my sleep. But as soon as he’s awake, she leaps up to go and snuggle with him.

6·10 days agoWhen I was a kid, I remember asking my mom about this phrase because it made no sense to me. Why in the world would one even want a cake if they weren’t going to eat it? What is the point?! (I have always been particularly fond of cake — eating it, that is — who cares if it’s pretty if it tastes good?)
I’m an older millennial and I basically refused to text more than a three-word sentence at a time up until, oh, probably 10 years ago because I hated typing on my phone. I doubt I used punctuation at all.

2·17 days agoI stuck with knitting for a very long time before even trying crochet, and it turns out the tension is completely different and I have a hard time with it. I can do it but it takes a lot more concentration. I also hold my yarn weird! I think it’s funny that everyone conflates the two crafts when they’re actually very different. But I get it. I couldn’t tell you the difference between two wood joining techniques.

9·18 days agoKnitting: it really helps to start with an actual human teacher, but people can self-teach themselves using YouTube only. After you get the basics down, YouTube is great for learning a stitch you’ve never seen before. And that’s pretty much all you need to start reading patterns. Anytime you come across something you don’t understand, YouTube to the rescue. There is also a great community site called Ravelry for pattern discovery, discussion, and yarn information.
The difference is that those were sequels, whereas this is a remake. Would you want The Lord of the Rings remade? It’s been about the same amount of time. Maybe that’s a bad example though because they’re trying to milk that franchise too and fans are pretty meh on it.

1·11 months agoMy husband has set up a pihole and it’s the best ever. It used to run off an actual raspberry pi but now we have a home server and he got it set up on there. Literally yesterday he also added Tailscale to our computers and phones and it seriously rocks my socks. I don’t even exactly know what it does but suddenly I’m not getting any ads while at my in-laws house on their WiFi so, score! I am not tech savvy enough to know about these things, much less set them up myself, but I am super thankful that my husband aggressively hates ads and I get to benefit from his crusade against them.

That sounds like the beginning of a joke. If it is, what happens?
