I joined Lemmy back in 2020 and have been using it as @qaz@lemmy.ml until somewhere in 2023 when I switched to lemmy.world. I’m interested in systemd/Linux, FOSS, and Selfhosting.

That’s a shame, I liked some communities on there. Another example of the importance of the 3-2-1 rule.

Programming@programming.dev•Jepsen on ParticleDB: "We tested versions 1.1.4 through 1.1.18.11.rc-22 and found that ParticleDB’s claims of “Full ACID” were somewhat premature"English
15·6 days agoOur findings suggest structural deficiencies in the ParticleDB QA process. Perhaps tests were not run prior to release. Perhaps the test suite was run, but failed to exercise basic functionality. Perhaps engineers entrusted Large Language Models with the work of testing.

Europe@feddit.org•Temu drops sharply in popularity among Danish online shoppersEnglish
4·7 days agoCould this be related tot the increased import taxes in the EU? They increased the taxes on small individual items (previously exempt) from outside the EU which drastically increases prices of items bought from Temu and Aliexpress. I recently looked for some Zigbee sensors on AliExpress and it was significantly more expensive than before (but still much cheaper than the dropshippers in the EU).

I sometimes wonder if this is one of the reasons Musk hates Wikipedia so much. Content like it is an important part of LLM training data.
A LoRA perhaps?

Technology@lemmy.world•IBM CEO says open weight models are now irresistibly good and cheap on-premEnglish
17·12 days agoI mean, obviously, but I guess the only reason they’re saying this is because their own models aren’t that great (IBM granite sucks) and this way they can still sell consulting services.

It felt kinda silly that the Yandex search index scrapers stopped working and people confused those with the social media bots at first, but in hindsight when people are presented with numbers of falling russian bot traffic it’s an easy mistake to make for someone who is not that tech savvy.
