How do police shooting rubber bullets and chemical weapons at protesters make things better?

Protests start peaceful and the violence always starts with the repressive state apparatus trying to quash the protests, and then this provokes rioting and looting from opportunists that want to use the chaos to have fun or get revenge or make some cash.

But the blame lays squarely at the feet of the police.

I agree, Western civilization should collapse because of an energy crisis.

We’re not talking about words, we’re talking about political ideology. A communist is a communist, a liberal is a liberal, a fascist is a fascist, these ideologies aren’t context dependent. There are different kinds of communists and liberals and fascists etc etc but they’re all recognizably part of the same ideological family with a clear historical tradition, no matter the time period or country.

Conservatives can be so radically different in different contexts that it’s not really useful as a descriptor. It’s like saying someone is extreme or moderate or revolutionary or something, its so context dependent that it tells you practically nothing without the context.

I’m pretty sure that just means “conservative” doesn’t mean anything.

Yeah after a certain age it has nothing to do with lifestyle choices, they’re just lucky.

Children make things complicated. I’d seriously consider leaving if I had any.

Absolutely. I used the word “experience” and not “feel” intentionally here. People who raise and kill animals for a living try to think of animals like meat robots, they want to believe pain is just something animals sense rather than a subjective experience.

Sometimes, they successfully fool themselves so they don’t have to feel bad for the animals they hurt and kill. Other times they develop all sorts of disorders and addictions. Sometimes they kill themselves.

It doesn’t matter. People have already made up their minds, facts are irrelevant.

That’s extremely challenging for a lot of people. A lot of people aren’t even willing to accept animals experience pain.

I really don’t think any of this is intentional, though. It’s just the contradictions being heightened.

No one will learn anything from this.

Tracing can bring people joy, but, it’s not the same. You’re cheating yourself out of an experience. You’ll never be as proud of anything your AI agent makes as a real artist will be proud of their own work, because you didn’t make it.

Or, to put it another way: you ordered a sandwich at Subway. You told the worker just how you like it, picked all the toppings, etc. Eating the sandwich might bring you joy, even! But, did you make a sandwich? Obviously not.

You aren’t making anything. You’re tracing.
