Man, I remember reading about some culture that actually had five formal gender structures and thinking, “That makes so much sense. Why can’t we do that?” Anthropology not politics. This feels like corporate propaganda meant to discourage job seekers and make people willing to take worse jobs at worse pay. It’s full of anecdotes and emotion, and the few hard numbers are without historical context.

This is not to diminish the struggle of people looking for work, or the struggle of people just to afford basic necessities. I am just suspicious of the steady drum beat of ‘times are harder now than ever before’ from corporate media, because I have heard that story constantly for years.

The GPUs they’re talking about don’t have video outputs, and I think many of them aren’t even PCIe. Even at pennies on the dollar, they’ll still be hundreds of dollars, so way easier just to get a consumer card.
All the past infrastructure bubbles, the companies that inevitably failed at least left some usable infrastructure - rails, pipelines, dark fiber… These guys are going to crash, never pay back their loans, and the acres of datacenter, containers of GPUs, and racks of servers are just going to get recycled. It’s such shocking waste that it’s hard to comprehend.
It’s really not the publicly disclosed vulnerabilities you need to worry about. Most of those vulnerabilities have existed for years - the recent php thing is supposedly 12 years old. Maybe someone’s been out there exploiting it for 12 years.
The people who have sought and exploited vulnerabilities since computers went online don’t disclose what they find. They are the people who should be most worried about AI-assisted vulnerability research, because it directly attacks their business model.

Essentially, the DNS I run on a router-like box much like you describe uses a different database depending on whether you query from an internal IP address or a public address. For me, the advantages are that I can let devices on my local network declare their own names to DHCP and enter them in DNS without worrying about the outside world. Mu internal network doesn’t crash if my ISP changes my address, Certbot happily requests certs for any site with a public address, and that cert works seamlessly on the corresponding internal address, no wildcards or DNS challenge required.
