Linux@lemmy.ml•I tried CachyOS, but here's why Bazzite is still my go-to Linux gaming distro
19·6 days agoI only skimmed the article since it covers a lot of stuff I knew already but it seems the main complaint is, as usual, “rolling distro bad”. With a side of “too technically demanding for average user”.
If you like Beksinski and video games you should check out Scorn. The game’s look was very influenced by his work.

Technology@lemmy.world•Russian Bot Activity Collapses by 84% After Strikes on Yandex Data CentersEnglish
25·7 days agoYou’re sure making a lot of assumptions in this post, about me and the methodology of this research. AI was used, as I claimed it was, and you have no idea in what manner it was used because you clearly neither read the article or investigated any of its claims. Go ahead and keep inventing your own reality and protecting it with your ban list, I couldn’t possibly care any less.

34·7 days agoI read the article and looked up the system they used for it. But go ahead and use an instance url to baselessly discredit what im saying.
The data were collected using Osavul software, which flagged the analyzed accounts as displaying signs of inauthentic behavior.

49·7 days agoThis one comes from a Ukrainian propaganda outlet that used AI to “prove” this so I imagine that’s why it seems to conflict with other sources.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Linus Torvalds shares his thoughts on Anti-AI coding rules
526·8 days agoYeah I notice he doesn’t address the costs, economic and environmental, of LLM proliferation. Way to ignore a large part of the argument while calling anyone opposed to your position stupid.
I hope he gets to eat those words one day, but I doubt he would ever admit he was wrong.

2·8 days agoBtw the decomp I was referencing was of the original modern warfare 2 from 2009.
lol, amazing. This is what we get out of these datacenters burning tons of diesel. Everything is just so stupid.

3·8 days agoYeah but is there really any value in something like that? Maybe for corporate espionage, I guess, but that 250k is still heavily subsidized; these AI companies are hemorrhaging money. What happens when the capex fountain runs dry; is anyone going to pay a million dollars in tokens to get an 80% accurate decomp of an old pokemon game?

7·8 days agoI doubt legality is a shield against them suing you and honestly I’m not entirely sure they’d lose; many judges aren’t technically literate enough to understand the difference between leaked source and decompiled. Better hope the lawyers you can afford are better than the ones they can.

41·9 days agoSo it didn’t actually make decompilation too easy, as the headline suggests.

71·9 days agoPaying an AI for a decompilation is not the same as doing the decompilation. You’re buying the decompilation; that doesn’t mean the act itself was easy to accomplish.

121·9 days agoIt doesn’t say how much these decamps cost, or what quality they are. I don’t think burning a years salary on this is “easy”.

491·9 days agoDefine “too easy” because the last AI decomp I saw was a 600ish megabyte Pokémon game for the DS that cost the guy $56k worth of tokens and was ultimately pointless because the actual source code had leaked ages ago.

Technology@lemmy.world•Drone strikes didn’t take out a Russian bot farm, but we were primed to believe itEnglish
416·10 days agoYeah I suspect the traffic did drop when Yandex’s spiders and all the colocated AI systems stopped crawling your site; data from cloudflare confirms this. It’s not a coincidence; it’s just not what people are claiming it is. You’d probably see a similar drop if someone bombed data centers in the US, but that doesn’t mean they’re running social media troll bots. AI bots are responsible for a lot of traffic these days.
Do you have any information on what user agent strings the suspicious traffic was using? Yandex bots might still use their user agent string even if they were crawling through a VPN. AI bots would probably masquerade as a standard browser, but would be likely try to crawl your entire site unlike natural traffic visiting a few pages. With VPNs in play it’s too difficult to say for sure, though.

Okay, but have you considered that I have no health insurance and live in a shithole country that will happily let me suffer and die for being broke? I’d rather feel fine until I keel over than agonize while having to push through. What use is pain I can’t do anything to address?
